As my first post, I suppose this is a good starting point. When people refer to their GPA (or the GPA they put on their med school app for that matter) are they referring to their TOTAL GPA of all college classes taken? The reason I ask is because I transferred from 2 community colleges to UCI. I had excellent grades in my community college but being mostly upper division, my GPA dropped quickly while at UCI. I graduated last year (Economics) with only a 3.155 GPA on my UCI transcript but my transfer coursework had a GPA of over a 3.60. I took about an equal number of units at UCI and community college so I would HOPE my GPA would be about right in the middle. Roughly 3.37 ish. I hope that's the case because it wouldn't be fair that a transfer student's GPA be computed differently (disadvantageously). Anyways I am just now taking my pre-health career classes and of course I plan to do as well as I can in them, I just want to make sure my current GPA calculation is fair and consists of the big picture regarding my overall college performance.
