Since ME does not have MD school (only DO)...can I think this way?

Since Maine does not have an MD school, would other New England MD state schools (who appear to favor in-state students) possibly consider ME applicants a little differently than other oos applicants? Meaning UMass Chan School of Medicine, University of Vermont, etc.?
Also, if stats are high enough, does OOS really not matter as much anyway?

OOS doesn't matter at private schools, and for public schools it helps to look at the percentage of OOS people accepted on the MSAR. You can even see a map of which states they take people from.
Tufts has a Maine track, in case you're also interested in staying in Maine.

U Mass, UVM, Tufts, Dartmouth will look favorably on applicants from Maine.

I would imagine UConn does too because they have a (slight) reduced in-region tuition for NE residents without public state MD schools (RI, NH, ME).
