Just browsing available dental positions within my state of North Carolina and came across this position announcement, my question is, since when and how can a RN direct the work of a dentist? The announcement (below) pretty much implies the nurse is the dentist's supervisor. I feel some type of way about this. Any thoughts?

- Examines patients, determines dental needs and treatment plans.
- Provides a full range of professional dental services including diagnosis, prevention, restoration, surgery and endodontic services.
- Conducts screening programs.
- Supervises the operation of the dental clinic.
- Prepares charts and records.
- Cleans, sterilizes and maintains equipment.
- Ensures adequate and appropriate supplies are available.
- Promotes dental health awareness through public relations and educational programs.
- Serves as consultant in dentistry in the department and community.
