Ok my dear SDN family ,

It has come to my attention that on this board we have a multitude of 99's .I sincerely hope that these reports are true 😍. However as doctors in the making , we need to be professional and honest even in cyberspace .

I humbly suggest to the admin of SDN that anyone who reports their score post a photograph of their report showing the score and the profiles . The name of the individual should of course be witheld .

I sincerely urge this requirement for anyone who reports their score on the SDN forum . We are required to be accountable and should use this board as a start .

Moderators , in an effort of transparecny , can this suggestion be implemented ? Its not hard for someone to include a snapsot showing their score as they report to our online community here . The name of the student would be witheld , while allowing for accountability and transparency .

What does the SDN family think ?? 🙂

Just to be clear - the student's name and any identifying info would be blotted out before he/she posts their report ..

think about it - It can be really fun - " this is my score ....and here is the proof " - the fruits of my labor ..🙂

SDN would then be more valid.😎

What the hell? Who cares? How does anyone lying about their score hurt you in any way?

😳don't u admire honesty ? we are scientists ...we aim for precision and now that we are will be serving humanity , we need to set the standard for truth and transparency . It begins right here - why lie about your score should be the real question you should ask ..

a few points:
1. There ARE a lot of 99's out there. It is a true that the SDN community, and the posts in it, is not representative of the general population. But in general, anybody with a score above 238 (which is less than the 1SD mark, i.e. ~20% of test-takers) will have a 99.
2. Implementing this photo requirement would take up a lot of space in websites/servers.
3. If somebody is so bent on posing and impressing people that he has only interacted with on a website, then they will find ways of posting a forged document (or somebody else's score report).

I would love for SDN to be a community where everybody is conscientious and held accountable (especially when it comes to posting advice on test prep). However, I do not think that merely implementing stricter score reporting requirements (such as this photo criteria), will solve the problem of fraud and misrepresentation.

well, it mainly hurts people during test prep. When somebody lies about their score and then posts advice on "all u need to do to score a such and such score", then others who are aspiring to get such a score will take that advice to heart. Take for example the following post:

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=6209475#post6209475

Now, 'EvenFlowCarter' might have scored this 262, but think of the implications of his advice if he was actually lieing, and he led others to follow a study plan which (in reality) never worked.

the point is, if somebody lies about their score and leaves it at that, then no harm is done. but posting and then giving advice (especially advice on limiting the number of resources used) is just malicious.

I'm kinda creeped out so I'm just going to say that I feel it is a bad idea and leave it at that.

waste of time and effort.

if you have ever been in a hospital, you most certainly will quickly understand that the "ethics" that are taught to you in school, and what you "ideally" should do (according to the Step) are GREATLY different than what you will actually experience and what you will actually do.

Point is - who cares if someone lies about their score. And your plea for honesty is "hopeful" at best. 😍😀

good points . Posting a report may not completely solve the issue , but it goes a FAR way in making the site more representative of honest reports.

I think this suggestion would be impractical to enforce, and would lead to a dramatic decrease in useful feedback from test-takers.

You should take everything you read on SDN with the large grain of salt that you would give to any anonymous source.

1. ok - don't make it mandatory but encourage the submission of score reports . Those test takers should be given better credence .

2. Why can't we strive to have an honest , verifiable and creditable archive of feedbacks and responses ?

Honestly, I have no idea why someone would do this, but if someone was out to mislead about their score, it would be a pretty simple process to doctor their score report in a way that would be difficult to catch when viewing a scan of it.

It's up to everyone to make their own careful decision about what advice will be useful for them. You can't expect SDN to come in and start policing the board to ensure that no one is lying. Buyer beware.

Finally and most importantly, you need to understand that many of the posters who got high scores have been on here for years - before, during and after taking their step and have posted consistent advice and results throughout. They have plenty of street credit w/o posting their score.

Wait a minute... you mean that not everything that random people post on an internet message board is true?!?

My world has just been shaken up
