I am planning to get one of these and the 'Numbered Budget Bucky Skeleton' seems to be the only one that's designed for med students. Are there other choices and is $300 a good deal?

was curious so I googled it...

it's for $175 on amazon.

even the big version is $220.

i'm assuming that the $300 isn't a good deal, unless you're looking at a different model.

When you click that link, the only item under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" is the 2002 sadomasochistic film "Secretary."

"Edward's reprimands for typos and spelling errors begin with mild humiliation, but as Lee responds to his orders--which are driven as much by his own anxieties and fears as any sense of order--the punishments escalate to spankings, shackles, and more."

Now THAT is hilarious.

I can't figure out what the difference is between the two. However, the shipping on the $175 model is $45, while shipping is free on the other one. So might as well go big or go home.

It looks like the only difference is the seller. One is eGeneral Medical and the other is Pro Therapy Supplies.

Is this just for personal interest or do you seriously think that you need it to study anatomy?

As far as I know, a skeleton is not required for medical school. Your school should have plenty for you to use.

Our school loans us one to keep at home during the entire Anatomy course.

You don't need to spend $300 on a skeleton.
In my schools you can borrow any part of the skeleton you want and take it home for a couple of days (huge collection).
But as far as I noticed some were more resourceful like using a shovel or even bribing graveyard keepers...

I can't imagine why you'd need one. Our gross lab had plenty available 24/7 and even our library has a few on reserve. I doubt your school would be much different.

Agreed with all of the above. Your lab will have what you need. Plus, I thought bones were the easiest part of gross, hands down. Save your money.

Although I would love to have one of those in the corner just for funsies, it really isn't going to help you if you only want it for studying.

Hey dude, that was a great movie.

Unsolicited story-- my school provides us with a honest-to-god human skeleton while we study gross anatomy. (I always kept mine in the trunk of my car, until I thought about how awkward it would be to explain to a police officer.)

I was sharing an apartment with another medical student who went out of town for Christmas. We had a power outage in late December that year, and I got home late one night to find my place cold and freezing. I managed to find some candles, but couldn't find a flashlight, although I had a suspicion my housemate kept one in her desk drawer. So... I go into her room, open the bottom drawer of her desk... and find a freakin' human skull staring back at me. Apparently, she only took the head home.

Bones in gross anatomy are cake. The only one you would ever ever need to look at is a skull and there are plenty of good picture in any anatomy book.

The only reason to buy this is to prove to girls that you bring back to your place that you really are a creep.
