As we know, politics aren't what the news tells us and there are a lot of grey areas.

I personally believe we are going to have a republican president next. Who is the better alternative at the moment within that party?

Did Obama take a stand on cutting student loans and medicare before he ran for president? It's not excusable for Obama to do it by any means, but to directly vote against your own interest with a candidate that has said directly they will cut those if they can is an entirely different monster.

I don't believe we're going to get a republican president for at least the next term, perhaps two. The republican party will need to distance itself heavily from its racist immigrant policies and homophobia. Now that the country may move to get Puerto Rico as the 51st state, gay marriage is becoming legal in more states, the southern strategy is dying with larger minority vote turn around and marijuana is being legalized recreationally, republicans are in deep trouble.

Student loans are one of the reasons for the current sky-high tuition costs. It's a bubble and it's not sustainable. Yes I will be taking advantage of federal student loans but there need to be more limits and alternatives.

Puerto Rico's former governor and statehood champion, Luis Fortuño, is a Republican. Also Rand Paul supports legalizing marijuana. Support/opposition for legalizing drugs doesn't really break down along party lines.
