I have a problem. I have an interview coming up at a school that I subjectively rank about a 8/10 on research match (though haven't visited) and a 2/10 on location.
I've been accepted to a school I rank a 7/10 on research and a 9/10 on location, and have been accepted by the MD/PhD committee awaiting med school approval at a school I rank 10/10 on research and 7/10 on location...

Should I skip the interview (Withdraw)? Or is this bad luck or bad form?

Need some advice! And sorry for all the fractions. 😕

What are the criteria in which you based this ranking system? I need a system like that.

btw, don't go to the interview. location is the most important thing

Everything looks different online than actually seeing the school, you could fall in love with the place. But location is important, actually, if I were accepted to a school I was impressed with I would withdraw from all others (none yet though). But that's totally up to you.

I don't know exactly how this would jive with your system, but I was told that pre-meds should follow the following courtesy procedure when holding acceptances (actually, I was told that I better follow it or else I'll shame the school by being an overcompetitive pre-med gunner 🙂. If you get accepted by a school ranked a certain spot on your list, you should immediately withdraw from all schools below your list, regardless of interviews. That is, if you get accepted by your #5 (ex. Duke), you should immediately withdraw from #6-10 to free up space from people who would actually go to those schools.

But then again, this may just be a weird Utah thing. (I go to the U for undergrad).

My advice is play the sociopath line and just do exactly what you want. If you want to see the school, go see the school. If you don't, don't. [Edit] It seems to me you are worrying more about the repercussions than you need to. Maybe you'll miss something if you don't go, maybe you won't. Don't feel guilty until after you've made a decision that has consequences on you directly.[/Edit]
