Is it possible?

I know it's unlikely, I'm wondering if it ever happens.

You need to be in a postbac program with linkages. That is the only way I know of. Most of these are for people who haven't had any of the basic sciences. There are some linkages at some programs for people who have had the sciences, but the opportunities are very limited. For example, at UPenn (where I go) students who are taking all the basic classes for the first time have at least five linkage options, the other students only have one.

It does happen, but it wasn't easy.

I took the MCAT back in August without having my bio or orgo pre-reqs done yet. I had to submit my AMCAS before I got the results back in October (extremely nerve wracking, but I scored a 34). My original undergrad GPA was 3.98 in engineering, and my wife works in the medical field (it makes an impression on interviewers when you've been living medicine on more than a volunteer or scrub job basis, but I did have those things as well).

I got an interview with my first choice state school and was accepted with the contingency that I complete the pre-reqs before school starts in August (will finish in the spring).

I'm probably definitely the major exception to the rule, but it can be done.

I'm relieved to see soonereng's post! I haven't taken my bio or oganic chem prereqs yet, I'm finishing up my engineering masters and I really want to take the august mcat and apply this summer, but I am worried about whether I have a shot at being accepted.
