The late 90's early 2000's had some pretty significant strides when it comes to electronic music. Talk 'bout crescendo and delivering. This is old, but good.

At the gym, I really like what happens @ around 1:40 seconds (cool down)... which transitions to high output reps @ around 2:30. Happnes 2-3 times in the track (the whole track is solid though).
Always gets me going for some reason.

Saw Tiesto last year in Vegas. He's one of the ones from that era that is still putting out albums... 👍

Game. Set. Match.

"NEGATIVE, GHOST RIDER."

Great dance music, I agree! As far as

ELICITING LIFE CHANGING ENDORPHINS,

not so much.

Hear me out:

Your dude Tiesto has a great flow. I hear it.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR DUDE Tiesto AND SKRILLEX:

1) Tiesto has a great beat going, works it to a crescendo, then

DROPS A PRETTY COOL VIBE, NOT MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE PREVIOUS MINUTES THO.

2) Skrillex has a beat going, works it to a crescendo, then

DROPS MIND PIERCING BASS WITH INCREDIBLE TWEETS AND SOMETIMES VOICE OVERS

all at that incredibly

RIGHT TIME

right after the crescendo which at that specific moment you believe your

LIFE HAS BEEN CHANGED.

In summary,

NICE VIDEO MAN. THAT DJ Tiesto IS COOL, KEEPS THE MOOD UP.

I feel like a cast member in

NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY

watching him.

But he ain't no Skrillex.

YES. Oakenfold from the late 90s early 2000s is a staple in many of my playlists. Some of his Radio 1 mixes were out of this world.

Oakenfold/Sasha/Tiesto 👍👍👍

Favorite album - Oakenfold, Essential Selection, Vol 1, Disc 2
Favorite mix - Oakenfold, Radio 1 Essential Mix, Space, Ibiza, 7/25/1999

MUST LISTEN: https://soundcloud.com/pauloakenfol...auloakenfold/sets/bbc-radio-1-essential-mixes

You should take your off topics to the lounge
or the dubstep forum or to a RAVE.... where you go to all of the time..

If you want to go way back... The ORB put this out back in 1990.
23+ years ago. Way ahead of it's time. I still dig it.

Jet I love that you love electronic music. Skrillex is amazing. he was my intro to EDM. I saw him live in Soldier Field at SAMF in 2012 and it started to pour in rain. You could see every single lazer beam through the rain and the song "Right on Time" was playing. It is forever imprinted in my mind.
A friend convinced me into going to Ultra Music Festival in Miami even though I didn't know too much about electronic music. I thought it would be a one time thing...mind blown/life changer. The most fun I've ever had in my entire life. So much I went this past year. Planning on going to EDC 2014 in Las Vegas before I pump babies out. It's not only about the music..but the atmosphere you are in...chill, friendly people there just to have a good time. AFter you go to one of these things, it clicks in your head and you get what EDM is all about...Someone drops a wallet at night, people stop dancing and use their iphones to help you look for it. **** like that is what I love about that culture. Probably the only place you can get to the front of the stage by saying excuse me...they part like the red sea. No alpha cocks there. That is what sold me...then you remember this every time electronic music plays and it makes you happy. This is what converts you I think.

I feel like the evolution of music taste from what I've seen with my friends is something like Dubstep on one extreme to something more chill like trance (Armin!!). Next big festival is Spring Awakening in Chicago next week after my last day of residency! Line up is pretty sick!! Anyways...enjoyed this thread...sad this is the only thing I comment on since 2008. LOL

Jet, I love you and everything, but you cant compare Skrillex and Tiesto/Prydz/Deadmau5

If you want dubstep, there is better dubstep than Skrillex (some was posted ITT)

I'm an avid EDM fan

My absolute favorite is Above & Beyond (more house./trance)

If you want good dubstep, I like Nero & Doctor P/Flux Pavillion

For the gym I keep an eye out for good sets (30-50 mins long).

Hardwell's set from Ultra 2013 was insane

His set from Tomorrowland was good as well. I just realized he started both with SPaceman 🙁

Jet, have you listened to trap at all? If you like dubstep you might like it, its pretty grimey.,

Steve, I listened to EVERY ONE OF THOSE.

Sorry in advance man, but those videos hit some vibes yes, but at the crescendo

THEY FAIL TO DELIVER.

Hear me out here:

Dude,

the

CRESCENDO OF A VIBE

is where an ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN

HAS TO DELIVER.

Big beats, tweets, Maybe Some Undertone Vocals leading up to the...

BAMMMM

that leaves an EMOTIONAL FRONT

on the listener.

ALL THE VIDEOS YOU UPLOADED

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT

IS

DIMINUTIVE IN COMPARISON

to

SKRILLEX

and his ability to

follow his own crescendo with

ROKK HITTING VIBES THAT HAPPILY

QUESTION YOUR SOUL.

I think I saw it posted earlier, but its worth posting again. Awesome song.

As a dj and producer for over 10 years, including 5 in South Beach, I can say, with 100% confidence, that these 2 artists are the equivalent of Will.I.Am and JT in the EDM world. They're just mainstream crap and no well informed fan of EDM would ever listen to them.

C'mon dude, ya gotta follow the rule of the thread: for every artist you claim as garbage, you must provide at least one example of what you consider a good artist/song. Can't just come in and crap on the thread and not contribute. Let's have some examples of "good" EDM.

Fair enough 🙂 theres so much out there in EDM its mind boggling...but as far as what Ive been listening to this past month:

Claro Intelecto
ASC
D:Bridge
Austra
Sandwell District - Fabric 69
The Knife (their new album cant remember title)

As far as all time favorite artists? Burial, James Holden, Amon Tobin.....

Could go on for hours 🙂 maybe I should start a thread, seems to be a lot of members who are into electronic music.

Just listened to The Knife's "Fracking Fluid Injection" preview. It was PAINFUL! It's anything but music. Knife Party---Resounding Yes; The Knife--Resounding NO!!! (Pun Intended).

Thats the one! Not exactly dance music, but have always loved The Knife 🙂

Hardwell quickly became one of my favorite DJs. He has been killing it the past 2 years.

3013 Ultra set was insane

2012 Tomorrowland

Fedde Le Grand's 2012 UMF set was also ridiculous
