I think someone on one of these threads mentioned that without a good night's sleep, one wont be able to do well on VR. How detrimental is not getting enough sleep even if you feel fine in the morning?

I have terrible insomnia, so I have spent a lot of time thinking about these types of issues and experiencing the effects of varying levels of sleep.

If you feel fine, then I can tell you with 100% certainty that you will as well on the exam as you are capable of. In fact, the ONLY valid criterion for whether or not you have slept enough is how you feel.

My response isn't meant to be rude but I don't know what sort of answer you're looking for here. Sleep deprivation affects different people in different ways under different conditions. How sleep (or lack thereof) affects you may be different from how it affects someone else.

That being said, I think most of us can agree that sleep deprivation negatively impacts our concentration and critical thinking skills. To what extent would depend on a lot of other factors, like how much sleep we actually got and how much we're used to getting.

Verbal is just all about sharp focus. Misreading/not understanding a paragraph can throw off your whole section with how critical time is. If there's questions or paragraphs you have to reread multiple times, that makes things more difficult.

Anything that affects your focus will affect your score. There is no correct answer to this. Many people are fine on less sleep. Others are not.

Nerves may give you insomnia, making your mind more fuzzy, but the pressure may also help you think clearer, so the final effect is very dependent on the individual.

I couldn't sleep the night before, got 4-5 hours of sleep (after getting about 10 hours a night usually), my mind was a bit fuzzy for PS. I felt I did terribly on PS (June 20th, 2pm, haha), and the increased pressure of needing to do well on VR and BS helped me focus more intensely than usual. In the end, PS was on the low end of my practice test scores, VR was 1 point higher than I ever got, and BS was on the high end of my practice scores.

It's going to be really hard for anyone else to predict how the lack of sleep/increased pressure combo is going to affect you. This is how it affected me, if that's any help.
