Several people in my class have/are doing it. I guess we will see how it goes when/if it ends. My guess is that some will be fine, while others will probably be bombs.

Screwing around might be fine, but I just can't see myself marrying another dentist! Balance is SOO important in my life, and I would like to be able to come home and talk about OTHER things with him; teaching each other, having different intellectual interests, etc. etc. I don't discount the immediate attraction when two people are going through the same struggle, but I just thing it might contribute to burnout if the couples' entire life is dentistry. Not that I've started dental school or anything!
On the other hand, if I'm going to school with Ron Jeremy and all.... 😉 (Oh wait, he'd never get married!! What am I saying?!?!)
HERE's a question: Where in the dental office/clinic would you most want to do the dirty? The chair? (it moves!) The desk? (those patient records were never organized anyway!)

YAY. With classmates is always fine. I did in Undergrad and it worked out pretty good. It really depends on you how you take it. I mean in undergrad it didn't work out for me but we took so many classes together after that and it was never a problem at all for either of us and we are still good friends.
P.S. Just make sure they don't have any criminal records.

I hadn't known any LDS people until I started interviewing, then met a ton. Apparently the high autonomy and room for a family makes dentistry appealing to the culture and religion....is this correct?

I'm LDS and I think what you said has a lot of truth to it. Utah has no dental school but is way too over saturated with dentists. Utah seems to be oversaturated with other professions such as lawyers, engineers, etc. It may be like you mentioned, with a lot of family support it's easier to gain lofty goals. Getting married young also is a huge advantage because it makes you grow up real quick. I got married at age 20, if I hadn't I would still be goofing off with all my friends getting bad grades like I was before I got married. 😀I'mFillingFine said:

2 students a year behind me in school were doing this. For a while he was bangin' her like a screen door in a hurricane, then he kicked her down the block. It made for really awkward clinic years together, and everyone could tell. Did I spell awkward right? It just looks funny on my screen.

to the OP, consenting adults who are attracted to each other physically should be able to have sex whenever and wherever they want, provided that privacy is available. life is too short so when you find a hot person, make your move! go have sex with that person before someone else does. however, the post-sex phase may be a bit uneasy, especially if it's a small class. still, uneasiess can be avoided by agreeing on the terms upon which you'd be f--k--g!!! if it's love, then so be it. if it's physcial and stress relief, then do it like rabbits with no strings attached...hope that helped....lol

agree with phremius....this is a nation of prudes...unfortunatly many of those prudes are hot, especially mormons, so it 's a shame that they dont enjoy their bodies and that they dont let others enjoy them as well.... in fact, we, in this country, not only have issues with sex but we also have issues with respect to our bodies and getting naked!!! pretty sad. for some reason, americans think that if we have too much sex, we'd become kinda less hard-working and and less attractive....i dont know,,,it's a complex and contradictory culture and i may not be able to describe the problem in words. ....i think the problem is mostly (not entirely) with the white american male. the white american male is usually the religious and conservative member of society. religious leaders and leaders of conservative institutions are usually white males. also, it appears that in professional schools like dentistry and medicine, and even law, it is the white male who creates a prudish, conservative aura. in fact, conversations about sex are still taboo among most white guys out there. i dont know why but this is simply based on my own observation. so i am being subjective here....perhaps some people can correct me if i am wrong....overall, i stand by my initial opinion regarding sex. people should have a lot of it while they can....

lucky you.....i did not go to a place like UCSB....wish i did...where i went was pretty nerdy and geeky....it was a whole bunch of poor pre-meds who worked part-time and went to school full time. it was pretty intense and there was no debauchery what so ever. 🙁 ....

Maybe... but ask them in the interview if the entering class has low enough standards or expectations so that you might hope to have some fun... you've been very open but something about your obsession with sex tells me that you are either still a teenage boy going through puberty posing as an almost dental student or you aren't having enough sex, thus an imaginary human interaction via this forum is the only way for you to express your sexuality.... do us all a favor and get a real partner and have a real experience and have it be good enough and fulfilling enough so that you don't feel the urge to make up for it by blabbing all over the internet....

UCSB is not a bad school. let me clarify this: both Yale and Columbia are ivy league schools. both have some amazing undergrads with great academic and non-academic credentials. yet, Yale has the infamous sex week and yale kids are known to party real good. columbia kids on the other hand dont party as well. whether columbia or yale or UCSB, it's not about standards....it 's about the school's culture.
you've been very open but something about your obsession with sex tells me that you are either still a teenage boy going through puberty posing as an almost dental student or you aren't having enough sex, thus an imaginary human interaction via this forum is the only way for you to express your sexuality....

The low standards have nothing to do with academics or achievement, it has to do with culture. I know plenty of super intelligent-capable professionals whose personal culture is mediocre. I agree with you that many schools excell in some areas and then are anemic or mediocre in "culture".
I am just presenting the opposite view. Sounds like you already live the life you want... dental school probably won't add or take away from who you are or what your life already is. Sometimes what you call "prude" is the fact that many can't have indiscriminate sex because it is such a personal experience and many people (I know this is hard for you to believe) have feelings that go along with doing something so personal. Thus we are private, "prude", and personable-not mechanic and instinctive. Most animals have sex as instinct only, without higher thought for repercussions-humans have a little more depth-most of them, and they think about long term consequences of short-term gratification vs. long term gain and impact....
