Smart Enough?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There is no such thing as being "smart enough". It's all about drive. Don't count yourself out. If you want to be a PT go to CC and fix your grades

Thank you for the encouragement! I really appreciate it That_Donkey 🙂

How does one determine if they are smart enough to be a PT? Until recently, I decided on pursuing healthcare fields that are less science intensive because I got a C and C- in Bio 1 and Chem 1 as a freshman. But, I'm starting to reconsider, I took Physiology at my local community college and earned the highest A in the class. I noticed that many PT schools accept community college courses, so it has me wondering.

I've just applied to OT schools, but I've been shadowing a PT in acute settings and I really enjoy it.
I'm a future OT Student but started out wanting PT and I must say they are very different career fields. You shouldn't go OT if PT makes you happier. Most grad schools(OT/PT/MD) are looking for B's or higher in prereqs...some will take C's but not C- (at least not what I have seen). They all have challenges but you can do anything you put your mind to. Retake those classes and reach for your goals. Life is too short to be unhappy. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!☺️

Hey I remember you from OT! I too switched after having been rejected by CSUDH. I used to think that I wasn't "smart enough" for PT and settled for OT. But during the course of taking prereqs for OT, I realized I could do this stuff! All As in science classes except anatomy (B) and I've realized it's all about study skills and dedication of hours to memorizing the material. I'll be taking chem and physics spring semester, and I'm excited to see how I'll do. I'm optimistic, and if PT really is what you want to do, don't let self-limiting thoughts deter you. You never know how you'll do until you actually do it. Plus, the kid you were freshmen year is not the person you are now. Good luck

From someone who failed o chem and retook it to get a c sophomore year and just finished biochemistry with an a+ after 5 years from graduating school ........I seconding highlife
