Using Smartbook would do more harm than good (grades, study skills ,etc)

Hi!

This may seem like a weird topic, but I would like to hear your opinion.

I'm currently enrolled in an online class that also includes a Smartbook textbook (you know, one which has highlights on important parts and quizzes you every several pages or so).
It's my first time using such a textbook, and while I am slightly inclined to believe that the highlighted sections would help me focus on important sections more easily + achieve a better grade in this course, I am worried that perhaps it will deteriorate my ability to naturally study actively.

So....
- Would you/did you use a Smartbook?
- If you used it before, do you believe that it helped you achieve a better understanding/grade for that specific course?
- In the long term, do you expect using such a textbook to enhance or deteriorate natural studying skills?
(enhance: perhaps you would get the gist and understand how to spot important sections VS deteriorate: you might forget how to sport important sections because you become reliant on the support)

I am a non-trad trying to remember how to student (good grades would be a plus/a must) and trying to develop a better studying method/habit, so any advice for me would also be greatly appreciated 🙄

Thanks!!!
