Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has information on how adcoms look at SMP GPAs (especially from the older more established programs).

Do they do a weighted average with undergrad?

How widespread is the “last 32 credits” method?

What is the GPA needed in those programs to have success in the application cycle?

This is school dependent. There are MD (and all DO) schools that reward reinvention

They place more emphasis on the SMP

How widespread is the “last 32 credits” method?
Depends upon the school.


What is the GPA needed in those programs to have success in the application cycle?
Based upon reports from successful SDNs, I'd say 3.7+ with MCATs as follows:
DO: 505+
your state MD 510+
other MD schools 513+
