Hi guys,
I took the old MCAT and got a pretty bad score. I plan to retake the new exam in early 2016. I want to start studying ASAP since I work full-time. And I need some suggestions on the study materials.
I used the Kaplan course for the old exam and didn't find them super helpful. Physics and orgo were my weaknesses, and Kaplan did not go into enough details on these subjects for me. After searching on SDN, I think the BR books would probably work better for me since they cover the basic concepts in a decent amount of details. But their books have not been updated for the new exam, so I'm not sure how helpful they'd be. Additionally a lot of people seem to like the new EK books. Both the BR and EK books include practice passages/questions at the end of each chapter, but I need to decide which set is more suitable for me, since it would be a little redundant to buy both for review.
Also I never took psychology and sociology in college, I plan to use the TPR book to self-study these subjects since I heard many good things about it.
A list of the materials I plan to use:
For subject review: BR or EK --> need suggestions on which set to buy, TPR for psych/soc
Practice passages and questions: BR or EK, 120 questions from AAMCs and the questions packs for each subject, Khan Academy passages
FLs: AAMC FL1&2, EK FL1-3, BR1-3, NS FL's, and everything else that's out there
Can you guys give me some feedback and tips on improving my score? Any other materials I should add to the list? Thanks a lot!!! 🙂
