I've been following the SN2 schedule for two weeks now and I just wanted some advice on when to take the timed passages. My problem is that I will read a chapter but I wont have all equations memorized and I dont feel like I thoroughly know the material either.
Should I be taking the timed passages anyway and take the time when I review them to really go into the specifics and if so, doesn't that mean im just wasting practice passages because im not armed with all the information I need to do well on them?

Also, for anyone who has done or is doing this schedule, what did/do you do to better understand the concepts prior to taking the timed passages?(strategy wise not material wise) I spend a lot of time trying to conceptualize what im learning but I often feel like i need more time. Maybe im just being too detailed. Any advice would be appreciated.

My suggestion is to not be intimidated and HIT those passages. You will get better with time.

Often if I'm too tired to do it or taking too long on the chapter reading I will do in the AM. But I realize that doing the passages and then REVIEWING THEM throughly (ie. taking 2-3x times longer than it took to do them) is really key in building up MCAT-style muscle.

I think one of the most important parts of the SN2ed schedule is that it helps you get sense of the timed conditions and how to solve problems by POE(proces sof elimination_ ) even when you feel like you don't know the content or what the passage is saying completely. You'll realize, as I do in the review of a passage you took, that I can almost answer all the questions...with a good enough understanding...there aren't that many specifics or details to know.

If you have problems with content/concept, I'd suggest you taking the time digesting what you don't understand, even at the expense of falling behind your plan. It's especially hard reviewing for the first time if the material is not fresh in your mind.

CaptainQ, have you taken the MCAT and followed SN2ED?

I think that most people think that they need more content review than in actuality...IF you read through SN2ed's advice, he tells you how to address your weak content areas (And reviewing those notes/chapters ) once you review your practice problems. anyways, do waht fits you, but the first time i studied for mcat, i spend 1.5 months in content review and it was very stupid way to spend my time. I felt overwhelmed by the stuff i had to memorize/study/learn and by the time i got to the 3rd or 4th subject, i had forgotten what happened in the 1st or 2nd subject areas lol!!! This SN2ed method of rotation n practice problems daily is working out best for me.

I actually was looking for SN2's advice regarding this issue but I could not locate the thread.

I guess im more worried that im wasting practice passages because I know I need a more thorough content review but you did answer my question. I'll just continue sticking to the schedule.

Thanks for your advice 🙂
