Admittedly, I've only gone through the first chapter, but I'm getting destroyed on the passages. We're talking about 5/7 WRONG, whereas doing BR Phy/Chem/O.Chem with the corresponding passages is 5/7 RIGHT. Do you find that EK simply doesn't sync well with BR passages? Sometimes they are asking stuff that wasn't in EK at all.

Are you doing the right passages? The reason I ask is because the chapters from BR and EK are different materials. I believe chapter 1 in BR is nerve and muscle whereas chapter 1 in EK is molecular bio and basic stuff.

I would not be too worried about it. I did BR for bio review/prep and after seeing AAMC's practice tests and my real exam, I'd say that BR covers way too much and is way too picky about it. It depends on how you want to use them later, but taking a practice AAMC or at least the self-assessment would give you an idea of what is actually being tested.

That's not exactly the most popular opinion, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I do stand by it.

I actually agree with you. I've heard people on SDN say that BR's bio will prepare you for the MCAT because they have harder questions. In my opinion, you should be practicing with materials that are similar to the real exam so it will prepare you to think the way the MCAT wants you to think when solving the problems. From what I've heard, the BS section on the MCAT is more experimental and analysis. I did some passages on the BR and stopped because I feel like the questions are really different. On the other hand, I think TPR hyperlearning workbook does a great job. The passages will be about a experiment and you have to apply some content but you also have to analyze it. That's my opinion, I'm pretty sure not everyone will agree with it.

I have not seen TPR so I cannot comment on it. I leafed through someone's EK Bio book and the review part looked very reasonable but that's not saying much, considering it was just a brief look. No idea about their passages and questions though.

We do agree though - practicing on [certain type] of harder questions does not guarantee that you'll do well on easier ones.

I used TBR Bio and TPRH SW. I hated EK. Everyone is different, you have to figure out what works best for you depending on your knowledge base and learning style.

I would give the BR bio more time, and you will have bad chapters/bad passages.

The ones you get destroyed on are the ones you remember.

Yes, using the modified schedule. Reason I find it concerning is because I got 20/24 discreets correctly and a 10 in the 30-minute test, whereas with BR I'm completely lost.

Thanks everyone for your input.
