Just took NBME 1....boy am I depressed. Got a 510 (which corresponds to a 221) with 2.5 weeks left to go. I know I should be happy that I'll at least pass, but lately I've been contemplating more competitive specialties like ortho so I'm aiming for 235+. What's particularly discouraging is that I scored lower in subjects that I had just gone through (patho, physio) than subjects I plan to tackle in the next two weeks. How can this be?
Is there hope left for me? I should add that I'm about 75% through QBank, scoring mostly in the high 60's-mid 70's. Looking at previous posts, that's hardly enough to get a good score on the real test. At this point, I don't know what else to do. I've been going through FA, BRS patho and physio, Goljan audio, and QBank. I don't think I have time to pick up any new books. What can I do to make the most out of the time I have left? I'd appreciate any advice especially from those who have already taken Step I.
