I'm a sophomore biochemistry major right now and I recently found out that my school does a combination degree where you can go to professional school and after you finish your first year at a professional school, you can transfer enough credits back to get a bachelors degree in your major, but you have to have completed most of the in-major courses as well as all the core curriculum courses, and since I am going to apply for pharmacy school, that means I have to finish all pre-reqs also by the end of junior year (next year)
In order to do that, I'll need to rack up 19 credit hours per semester (38 for total for junior year) to finish all core and pre-reqs and most in-major courses. I'm so excited about the opportunity, but it seems like a heavy load, even if half the classes I am going to take are core (1000-level) classes. I am also doing undergraduate research.
I currently have an overall GPA of 3.876(I blame the music core 🙄) and a science/math GPA of 3.91, with what I can only assume to be good LORs. Provided that I do well on the PCATs, would you say I have a good chance of getting into pharmacy school? Particularly VCU Pharmacy School (since it's in-state). The only thing is, if i don't get into pharmacy school, I'll be forced to go back to undergrad and finish up my senior year with a super light load, which I don't want to do.
But yeah, I'm excited.
