And I did horrible. Practicing up to this point I have gotten a decent grasp on it I feel like, but then I took the practice test and did not perform. I didn't even get close to finishing... very discouraged right now.. anyone have a similar experience or thoughts?

Thank you.

Don't get discouraged on your first PAT test. I ran out of time and got a 16 on my first BC PAT test. I kept practicing, and ended up with a 28 PAT on the real thing. The key is to keep practicing with generators, and carefully reviewing your wrong answers on tests.

Do NOT stress about your first PAT test! It's 10% knowing what to do (like the tricks) and 90% practice. Once you start going through more PAT problems, you'll start getting faster at answering the questions. Trust me- I got a 15 on my first PAT test, but after doing the generators everyday for several months, I ended up with a 23 on the real thing. You've got this! Don't give up. When you're doing the generators, take your time. Don't time yourself. Instead, take a moment to understand the top/front/end orientation, the keyhole, or whatever. Good luck!

Practicing the PAT takes patience and mental fortitude. Taking the full test under time is very different than practicing individual sections under time. I cried after taking my first full practice test because I thought I didn't have a chance on ever doing well. Just keep plugging away and improving your accuracy and speed.

Yeah, you will be okay. I got a 16 on my first PAT practice test on BC, but ended up with a 22 on the real thing (nothing extraordinary, but I was happy with it).

Just keep plugging away, you'll get there!

I wasn't able to even finish the darn thing 🙁 very disappointing. It was a really humbling experience honestly.. I just need to take a deep breath and really buckle down and focus on practicing.

First PAT was Crack the DAT Test 1. It took me 1 hour and 50 min and I got a 17 lol.
Second PAT was BC PAT 1 and i did it in an hour and I got a 20.
On average for BC I was getting 20.

Real DAT got a 23. Finished it in like 48 min so I had 12 min to go over unanswered/hard questions.

Key is practice. Don't worry just take it easy and do a little bit every day! You'll get there faster than you think!

How much time did it take you to reach this level of speed?

Yeah, how did you reach this speed? Been practicing since end of May, and I am getting 17-18 on PAT tests and struggling to finish all the questions (end up guessing for an entire section).

Long story short, angles and TFE are destroying me.

angles were usually my fastest section. are you looking at the answer choices before looking at the angles? if you do, you should notice a pattern. for example, the largest angles will be, say, 4 or 1 --> compare those two angles and when you have decided which is bigger you can cross out two choices. then, with the two choices you have left, just compare the other two angles to determine which is bigger.

By the second test I could finish more or less by the time running out.
What helped me I think were generators. Give yourself 10 min and see how many questions you can get accurately. Do like 3 types one day on generators, and then 3 types another day. That's literarily like 30 min of PAT...nothing crazy. But by the end i was doing over 25-30 problems in like 10 min. Of course you have to make sure you stay accurate. I found generators almost more helpful in learning than PAT tests

Probsbly took me 4-5 weeks before I was getting like 50 min to PAT. Finish as in go over everything I knew. I always marked a few hrs ones/questions I couldn't figure out and I went back and did them but with much less time constraint

Angles were the hardest for me too. Some days I was amazing at them but most of the times I wasn't doing too hot. TFE was probably my favorite section. Once it clicked pretty much every problem was easy. Do generators in BC. They're easier but you learning the basics of like rotating an object
