Okay so last spring I was put on disciplinary probation for the the remainder of the spring semester for a dorm violation. Some RA's found a couple of six packs of beer in my fridge and reported me to the university. They told me this will be put on my student record, but apparently it also says I was very polite and civil throughout the whole ordeal. I dont know if that last part matters, but will this affect me getting into medical school? Oh and I don't have a record or even a speeding ticket. I know people make mistakes, but will this be viewed as something really bad?

I think it depends on the med school. I personally wouldn't really take it seriously. How many people can say they never drank before they were 21?

First off...just gotta throw a guns up to my fellow Texas Tech-y.

Secondly, i dont know from experience, but if this is on your early years in college, I doubt they will think of it as a big deal. There is a spot on all of the secondary applications which I have seen so far which asks you if you have ever been put on any sort of academic/disciplinary probation. But, they also give you a chance to explain it. I am sure they would be more worried about your grades than if you were caught with some beer...atleast its a legal substance you were caught with. Besides, they probably know we party pretty hard over at Tech. 🙂

Be honest, be remorseful, and take responsibility for your actions. You'll have to report it, and I really don't think this situation - explained - will keep you out of med school.
