Then I get my secondaries...
They have a thing for using their forms for LORs.
Does anyone know about Kirksville, AZCOM, CCOM, LECOM, PCOM, UHSCOM and possibly Nova (still waiting for their secondary) and how truly picky they are that the people writing my LORs use THEIR forms? I have gotten most of my letter writters to send their letters to referencenow.com and had though I could just send them off from their to the schools.

Also - PCOM has this thing about having the premed committee from my undergrad to send them the committee letter. The thing is they are SLOWER than molasses when it comes to people who are not currently enrolled at the school. When I asked my undergrad they said they could have the letter sent off by oh say December.
😱 My grad school, however, also has a committee letter for me and has a 3 day turn around time. Not to mention I feel also has a better idea of what kind of student I am. Has anyone had any luck in being able to use a different committee letter than undergrad with them? Of course I'm going to call them in the morning but I'd like a clue as to what I might expect.

I am in the exact same boat as you as far as PCOM. I wonder if we could just tell them to use our grad committee letter instead of te undergrad letter. Would they go for that? I am not the same student I was when I was in undergrad. Any letter from my undergrad would not be an accurate reflection of what I'm like now. I wish everyone would stop being so picky about having certain types of recs, just take what we got.

I had the same issue with PCOM. My post-bac program wrote my committee letter.

When I called PCOM they said they wanted the committee letter PLUS a letter from the dean of the college I graduated from 5 years ago... This was puzzling to me! But upon further discussion with the admissions office at PCOM they said they only wanted the letter to say that I had graduated in 98' and was in good academic standing, and never got put on double secret probation, etc. etc.. I also surmised that they wanted the letter to corroborate my official transcipt, to add yet more proof that I did indeed graduate from college. My guess is that they have been burned by applicants who lie about their academic status....

Bottom line. I had my undergrad student records dept. write a brief letter that was signed by the dean of student affairs..... A little extra work, but we do have to play by their rules!

OK, that I can do. I got along fine the dean of the sciences. But if I have to go near the head of the biology dept from my undergrad I will be forced to go postal... Lets just say we are not the most compatible people. And the converstaion about her saying it would not be till December when she could get around to my committee letter. . . +pissed+
All I wanted was for her to photocopy the letter she wrote before and mail it off. Nothing fancy.

Thank you for your responses. Tomorrow I will call PCOM and inform them that they will get the letter saying I graduated.

I called PCOM today and they were very friendly. They said that I could just send them a letter from my undergrad saying that I graduated and use the committee letter from my grad school.

I had similar issues with using the forms for my letters, and ended up just sending them on whatever paper the writer felt like using, but attaching the form to it with the signatures and stuff. I didn't have any problems or complaints from any of the schools I applied to.
