because I enjoy Dr. Rey. It's like he hasn't figured out that the entire nation is "laughing at". Anyway, he's talking to a dancer of the exotic nature, and he says, "I first owned a house when I was 39, but you are telling me that you are 23 and you own three?" I'm guessing that Dr. Rey makes decent bank, what with his charging cash money in Hollywood for cosmetic surgery. Yet even he must bow to dancing money.

Yes, we are all laughing at him while he laughs all the way to the bank. I don't think he loses any sleep at night over the way he comes off on that show. And why should he? He is getting publicity specifically catered to attract the clientele he serves (seriously vain and shallow types who will flash their parts on tv to have their 10 seconds of fame).

And while we're waiting on insurance and possible billing cuts for aiding in saving a life.....he is moving into his new 10 bedroom??? mansion; seems like the joke is on us altruistic types, (although, I sleep rather well in my little 1400 square foot house). 🙄

I don't like him at all either but he is a reflection of society and its superficiality and emphasis on the NOW. So he is performing, sadly, a needed function, and more power to him I guess.

He also must spend an extraordinary amount of $$ on his own lifestyle.

i read in a fashion magazine that he was sued for malpractice by his own brother for a botched hair transplant job that left him with permanent neurological damage rendering him permanently disabled and a constant need for assisted living care....the brother won the suit or they ended up settling outta court.

i am almost 100% certain that the article said that he is not US board-certified in plastic surgery.

most his patients are aspiring actors and chances are, their consultation is the first and last time they'll ever be on TV.

and i'm willing to bet that his ever-shrinking wife (who is probably losing weight from the sheer depression of having such a clown for a husband) will leave him for another man once she gets her self-esteem back and realizes that no amount of money is worth the embarrassment of calling that man your husband.

What? They still show that assclown on TV?

My god, I thought Dr. Ray was so yesterday.

My point is: do dancers get the last laugh on him?

I have wondered about that. The adult entertainment industry brings in billions each year, but that is from a complilation of things (video, clubs, magazines etc.) In med school I talked with a few patients who were strippers and they said the promise of money was overhyped and that they didn't make that much. As time went on they ended up with broken down bodies working in seedy places.

With that said, I am sure Hollywood adult entertainers make more, but are they honest about the amount they make or do they inflate it to justify their actions to others. I find it hard to believe that someone who strips ONLY is bringing in enough to purchase three high-end real estate properties, but regardless of how she got it, both she and Dr. Rey's environment rewards their behavior. The point of my previous post was that I don't envy: what they have, how it impacts their quality of life (or lack thereof), or how they got it. I'm sure they sleep well, so do I...and it's entertainment.

As for who gets the last laugh, they both do...they both have a legacy where they touched others during their lifetime.....just in different ways.

To contrast from Dr. Rey there are some Doctors who may not be household names like him, but they showcase their medicine via media outlets also.

The Discovery health channel has a new commercial advertising their new medical reality tv lineup; it features Dr. G-Medical Examiner, Dr. Jan Adams-Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Oz-Cardio and some other people I can't remember.

They have some good programs that don't make a mockery of "the art of medicine". This past weekend they had a Pathologist, GYN doc, and Oncologist talking about HPV, cervical cancer, the vaccine, diagnostic tests, treatments etc. (all interspersed with pathology animations, patient stories and laymen questions) on their Discovery channel CME program, which airs on Sundays.

Doctors are also used as consultants on ER, Grey's Anatomy, CSI, HBO and Court TV. Shoot, Dr. Baden-Pathologist (who has the Autopsy series on HBO) was just on the Montel Williams Show discussing a case he solved. Not a bad way to make a living while maintaining your reputation and dignity.

I used to have respect for Dr Oz but then a couple of weeks ago I was flipping through channels and he was on the Oprah show IN SCRUBS. What a douchebag. Oprah films in Chicago. He works in NYC. Which means he flies there, changes into scrubs, and goes onto the air. The sad thing is, this probably gives him some legitimacy to the bozos of the world. Thus, I no longer respect him.

Yaah's distaste for those who wear scrubs when there is no reason strikes again! Just please don't tell me he was wearing muscle scrubs with the cut off sleeves. It kind of makes you wonder if it was his idea or Oprah's idea. You can almost hear some execs saying, "hmmm, this guy doesn't look 'doctor' enough...let's put him in scrubs! Those always go over well with focus groups!"

LMAO

As if it weren't bad enough that Dr. Oz was wearing scrubs on Oprah, he was also committing the biggest sin of all... scrubs AND dress shoes, such a silly silly look

I don't have a distaste for people who wear scrubs. I have a distaste for people wearing scrubs when it is inappropriate (like to a restaurant or on Oprah). Scrubs are for the hospital. They should be worn only at the hospital because this is part of the reason germs and antibiotic resistant organisms get everywhere (although there are obviously other factors!). I was at a restaurant just outside the hospital here and one of the dental residents was there eating a huge breakfast with the scrubs he just had from his 24 hour shift on call covering the post op and complication patients. $20 says he washed his hands then wiped them on his filthy MRSA covered scrubs, then went to breakfast.

Meanwhile, Dr Rey was there in what looked like a five figure $$$ suit. 😱

😱

Thank you. I personally think it is really gross. I just don't like the way it feels to be in my scrubs the minute I walk out of the hospital. And who wants to contribute to community acquired MRSA?

I personally don't see wearing scrubs inappropriately any different than folks wearing white coats inappropriately, ALL the time including in 200 degree heat, EVERYWHERE (at the campus Taco Bell the other day, eeewwwww). But apparently, I'm the only one who feels this way about it.😕

Yes, this too is disturbing.

His taste in suits is...distinctive. But I think the suit is better than scrubs on Oprah.

Right, you have a distate for people wearing scrubs when there is no reason. Like on Oprah. Or to a wedding.
