Hey guys I really really need help with my school list. IT’S HUGE and I really need to cut it down but don’t know how. Any help removing (or even adding) things like not OOS friendly schools or schools that my stats aren’t really good enough for, especially considering my DAT scores, etc. would be great. I guess I would prefer to stay on the east side of the US, but I also want to be able to get in somewhere

My list so far:

University of Connecticut
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Nova Southeastern
University of Florida
Midwestern University

University of Illinois at Chicago
University of Kentucky
University of Louisville
University of New England
University of Maryland School of Dentistry
Boston University
Tufts
Detroit Mercy– not sure if I’m good enough

University of Michigan
Rutgers (Instate)

Columbia – definitely reach, not sure if worth applying to with my stats

New York University – safety?? Idk
University at Buffalo
University of North Carolina
University of Pennsylvania -- definitely reach, not sure if worth applying to with my stats
University of Pittsburgh
Temple University

University of Tennessee
Texas A&M University Baylor – I would love to go to Texas and this one is the one that accepts most OOS students I heard! (even though it's barely any)
Virginia Commonwealth
West Virginia

Penn, UNC, Columbia, UConn can be removed. Pitts might also be a reach.

Other than that, list looks good.

Pretty easy to cut down, just don't apply to places you actually wouldn't want to go to. I would also cut out UNC, any Texas school, could be wrong but I thought UNE had a heavy preference for NE states, and LECOM because I personally would never go there.

UNC, Tenn, Texas- lean heavily instate....I would take those out unless one of them is your dream school where you really want to go

are you from Illinois? If not, don't bother applying to UIC because they take literally 99% in state students.

Get rid of Texas schools.

Then, get rid of another few that you would really prefer not to attend. I'd base this first on cost, and secondly on location.

I think 13-15 schools is a safe number.

actually they only accept Illinois residents, it's their new policy. So if you're out of state, you're literally throwing money down the toilet.

Just wondering, do you suggest so because of my stats?

Hmmm UNE accepted a good amount of students from NY,NJ,PA last year. Also what is it about LECOM that you don't like?

Tennessee accepted about 48% OOS last year if I'm correct, albeit more than half of those were from AR..hmm

Nope OOS, why you gotta be so cruel UIC..would've really liked to go there haha

Not more than half, almost 90% of the out of state were from Arkansas. I'm an Arkansas resident...so I found out about this at the interview last year. They said maybe 2 or 3 are true out of state students

I agree with everyone else, but keep UNE (they do accept a lot of OOS) and Columbia (you never know, you're stats are around their average acceptances)

^, +
Remove Baylor (Really competitive for OOS, might need a good LOR from alumni or something), LECOM (PBL; unless you don't mind),

Umich has a preference for In state. So, unless you have a strong app, I will look elsewhere. If I were you, I will replace Umich with Case.

I'm sure you're right about UNE, I wasn't sure to begin with so if you'd like to apply there, go for it. As for LECOM, it is PBL, and to be honest I've never heard anything positive about it, it has been subject to a lot of negative reviews on here and elsewhere (their students even have a page dedicated to hating the school). It seems to be the place where you go if it's the only school you get accepted to; you have good enough stats to get in to the other schools on your list hence why I think it's dispensable for you.

Alright after reading a lot I'm taking LECOM out
