Hi, all. Just curious if anyone has any comments/ experience with being placed on HOLD at Pritzker (U of Chicago) prior to interviewing. Do you have any suggestions, is it basically a dead cause, or is it still possible to get an interview in the near future. Any insight would be appreaciated.🙂

Hey brother, what are your stats like and where are you from? 😎

Well, first of all, I'm not a "brother." Secondly, stats are: GPA 3.8 MCAT on the low side, but okay, and my extracurriculars are excellent. Plus, I'm a really down to earth person, so I hope they saw that through my apps. essays & personal statement. I think the MCAT issue is what's keeping me from the interview- do they have a cutoff? Oh & I'm from the SE WI to Chicago area- it's a bit complicated.

I'm thinking I got placed on hold today too, my status page changed and it's just weird. I'm from MI. Oh well, here's hoping for an interview.:luck:

Best of luck to you! So in cases of "HOLD" are we even likely to get interviewed? Do they just want a statement of interest of some sort? I guess I've never been in this situation- kind of awkward.....but at least it's not a rejection (yet).

I plan on waiting like a month, then calling them up and checking the status. If nothing has happened by then, an update letter of what you've been doing and an expressed interest could help, but who knows? I read on previous threads that about 200 people get placed on preinterview holds and 50 usually get interviewed at Pritzker. Good luck, I'm going insane with all this waiting.

Funny! I've never been called a Brother til today, but it would be pretty damn nice if i'd gotten an interview invite...then I'd have time to relax & heck even go "chillin in the hood" just because I could....Now I'm going to have to worry about sending a nice little update statement instead...or I could go study for the final I have tomorrow....I swear this process is really affecting my motivation ....all I want to do is check my status pages & read SDN ..Sad i.sn't it? Good luck to you too🙂

Well looks like we're all in similar situations. I hate this whole process, I'm constantly refreshing my email, looking at this site, and driving everyone around me nuts basically.

I second that!

from what i have heard, you have about 25% chance of an interview of the pre-hold list. also, it is highly recommended that you send some sort of update letter/letter of interest. if you haven't already, you should give them a call and ask to schedule an appointment with david owen. he will tell you why you are on hold. best of luck!
