It's my first time applying to medical schools, and I submitted my primary application a couple days ago. I can't stop myself checking amcas website to see if my application is verified.

I still feel very nervous and feel like I'm not going to get any interviews !!

Does anyone have the same feeling? Am I the only person who feel that way?
How do you guys manage to overcome this so stressful application process?

just relax. there is nothing you can do now.
just take a chill pill and play Starcraft (judging from your name lol) or something. If you did everything that you were supposed to do during undergrad, then you are bound to get in somewhere.

If you're freaking out one month into the application season, I'm not quite sure how you'll handle yourself by the time we hit September / October and the first wave of interviews start rolling out.

At this point in the game, just breathe. And watch funny videos on Youtube.

You'll be fine.

Mass zerglings.

It's okay I was nervous too. Just keep yourself busy and hopefully you only have to do this once. Good luck! 👍

:luck: And try to occupy yourself to keep the nerves at bay.

This thread is now about Starcraft:

That was ridiculous...

I love how Starcraft transcends language barriers... You can hear the announcer yelling "SUNKEN COLONYYYYYYY!!!!"

That was the turning point of the match.

WTF did I just watch 😕

Zerg did a fast expand, Terran scouted it and did a late SCV rush, then focused on the colonies before they could become static defenses. Some nice micro in there, too.

*thread gleefully hijacked to talk shop* 😀

I'm feeling the same way. Just try to do something to keep your mind busy I guess like read a book or hang out with friends.

This will only get worse as the year goes on...

This + your avatar reminds me of Bender dressed as Nerdgasma.

YES! I laughed soooo hard at that part.

Plus this:

And the whole "Amazon Women in the Mood" episode

real men play dota

I used to like Dota way back and was pretty good at it. Then, I stopped playing games. I tried to get back into it, but with all the helpful people on battlenet, the learning curve is like a vertical line. I asked where to buy a certain item and I got vote kicked.

OP, take a deep breath. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Anxiety this early in the game is not good, it's too easy to sabotage yourself that way. If you can't nip this in the bud, maybe go talk to one of the counselors at your school.

Keep in mind, thousands of people have done this before you, thousands will do it after, and we all live to tell the tale. It will be okay. Best of luck!

I tried to play DOTA back in the day but I would always get kicked when people realized I didn't know how to play. 🙁

"helpful people on bnet" ahahaha good one

Yeah I've played dota for...going on seven years, now. It took like 5 years before I started winning most of my games. I win like 80% now and it's the funnest game ever, but you're right--the learning curve is just ridiculous and there are pretty much zero players who want to have a guaranteed loss by having a new player on their team who needs help all the time. Dota 2 is about to come out and I think there will be a matching system that matches you into games based on skill level. Also, there will be coaches who get a warm fuzzy feeling from helping new players who will be available as in-game tutors.

dota 2 is outside of wc3! I'm excited but I'm going to try really hard not to start playing so that I don't flunk out of med school. I really have zero willpower to resist dota.

previously HoN and LoL were standalone also, but they sucked.

Install in your life something else that you like as much as the idea of being a doctor.

Everybody is probably just as nervous, if not more, than you.

Lol find something productive to do to get your mind off it -- maybe prewrite a couple of secondaries or something

We've already established that the OP should install Starcraft II on his computer.

starcraft II is already installed on my computer. I have been playing it ever since ,,,🙂

It sucks... Its a stressful process.

You'll go through it again during residency.

Just try to have as much fun as you can!

Distraction!

Just relax for now.. you will get plenty stressed at your interviews and waiting for final decisions... its a LONG road and expect not to know where you are going for about a year from now. For now, just be content that there is nothing you can be doing (other than maybe starting some secondaries).

Best. Tactic. Ever.

Treat it like you did the MCAT...and you will succeed.

DOTA is so popular that they should just make a game out of it outside of WC3.

It's funny that you say that. Actually, Valve is currently making a DOTA game outside of the WC3 mod realm. It's named "Dota 2" and might be released some time later this year.

Exciting stuff!

There were way too many keyboard keys mashing for me to every understand that game. My brain really just doesn't understand RTS games. I need turn-based games to have time to think (I prefer games like Civ, Heroes of Might and Magic, etc.).

Yeah, SC online is no fun unless you play it long enough to become pro. Which is why Civilization is awesome. Now if I can just beat it on something above warlord
