So now that all our AADSAS stuff is done and our DAT's are all taken we are just waiting to hear from any D-school.

WHAT THE HECK SHOULD WE DO NOW??

Should I call and bug my d-schools and try to make a friend and get an inside connection with someone or what?

Monitor the AADSAS website, make yourself a nice martini and relax. You're way ahead of many other people. Good job!

Call/email the admissions office for an update atleast once a week. You want to be kept apprised of new developments in the status of your application and it will show them just how much you really want to be a dentist

Be careful, I don't know whether or not it is a good idea to call each school once week because I know that some schools highly dislike being called at all eg. VCU dental school as mentioned in their website.

They are just trying to weed out the people who are not ambitious enough to give them a little jingle...the website is for the gullible

make sure you've ordered DAT scores for all of your schools.

Check to see if a secondary application and fees need to be submitted immediately or if you need to wait until the school asks you to send them.

Wow! I just looked at the link and it seems a lot of the schools I applied for require me to send the money asap. But here is the question: my printout has not been mailed out yet by AADSAS, so is it safe for me to wait at LEAST until AADSAS sends out my printout?? Also- if it is just money, do I just mail a check and thats it?? should I write something on a piece of paper to accompany the check, it just seems kinda bare. Thanks for help🙂

What's so wrong about enjoying your summer? Interviews will start coming in August or early September if you got your AADSAS completed in June (and everything else).

Follow the directions. If your school interest tells you to send the fee at the same time you submit AADSAS then you should do it at the same time you submit AADSAS. If you have already paid money to AADSAS to process your application, then you have already submitted AADSAS. Typically, DAT scores are requested at the same time that you submit AADSAS.

The other two things AADSAS will do for you is; 1.tell you the date they snail a hardcopy to your schools. This is not the same date they arrive at your school. 2. allow the schools to update your application status so that you can see your status on your AADSAS screen. However, most schools do not do this regularly, reliably, or accurately for some reason. Your best bet to make sure your schools have everything needed for the application is to either read their websites and follow the directions with precision or to read the website and contact the admissions office. Do not call a school without first trying to figure out what they want by reading their publicly available information. Not only do some schools take a while to respond, but you'll feel like an idiot if it is something obvious on their website.

You could alternatively try starting a thread on SDN for your school of interest to see what others are doing that are applying to the same school.

Send your check or money order with your AADSAS # on the comment line. You should also include a cover letter thanking them for considering your application and indicating you are including the requested fees, secondary applications and look forward hearing from them soon. Then put your return address, phone, and AADSAS # as a signature block.
