So...NYCOM is doing what?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Has NYCOM indicated that interview invites will actually commence this application season?
I called them the other day and they said they are sending out letters in two weeks.

I agree with that. They're ridiculous.

Can anyone confirm if they are answering the phone now?

Thanks

looks like in 2004 people started receiving interview invites for NYCOM in the mail on 11/1 so seems like we are on track.

Also this LOR situation annoys me because NYCOM is not explicit about whether LORs are needed to be considered for an interview. When I called they said it was required but on their website it says only the primary app is needed to be considered for an interview and posts on SDN seem to confirm this.

Anyhow I think the August MCATers should be in ok shape since it seems only a primary application and MCAT is needed. LORs and secondary are needed to be considered for acceptance after your interview. The primary application receipt does say to send in LORs after September so now is probably a good time to do so if you have not.

May we all have a short interview season.
:luck:

When I called I had no problem getting in touch with the admissions office but I think i only spoke to the secretary and she couldn't give me particular information about my file cause she said all files are with the admissions committee- do you guys have the right number? 516-686-3747

hey,
I dont know much about DO schools. Unfortuantely I just found out that that one of my schools didnt send out my transcript, which means I wont be complete there fore another week or so. So I am already late in the game. My question pertains to average MCAT and gpas for NYIT. I couldnt find any on their website.
I would appreciate any help, thanks!

i didn't know we had to send transcripts to individual schools?! i thought that we only send them to aacomas.. can someone clarify this?? starting to panic....

The NYCOM website states that you need to send transcripts before matriculation. Transcripts are to be sent to AACOMAS for your primary. Transcripts are ONLY sent to NYCOM if you get an acceptance and decided to attend NYCOM.

So basically we should be sending LORs right now....but not transcripts? They should def clarify the LOR situation on their website!

sorry for the confusion, my school didnt send my transcript to the primary service. However I was still wondering about the average GPA and MCAT.
cheers,

I called AACOMAS and they told me MCAT scores were sent to designated schools on 10/19. I check AACOMAS website and sure enough it shows that I had another mailing done on 10/19. I don't remember seeing that over the weekend.

called NYCOM this morning and was told some interview invites are going out today. Also told that they have received some August 2005 MCAT scores. When I asked if scores are received electronically or by mail she replied "by mail".

They have to open 1000's of LORs, transcripts, MCAT scores, etc. That is quite a task!

And there is only one person doing all that task and answering phones, please let's not burden her with unnecessary calls.

Any news from NYCOM this week? For people who receive interviews, do you mind posting your stats?

So I should go on ahead and send in my recommendations to them now??

Thanks for the heads up. I wish I had known that sooner.

NYCOM staff is definitely one of the rudest of all OM schools. I asked last week about my file, the secretary replied that we still have not received your app from aacom and that I need to speak with them. I spoke with AACOM they said the mailed it out in July!!! On top of that, the sec was very rude and said "OK, I don't have your file" "OK", "OK", with a PO-d tone "Goodbye"... no doubt, she didnt even go check on it. I would love to go to the school because its so close to me, but the admin staff is a big turnoff.
