What's the big deal? You applied to OU-COM so the admissions office sent you their electronic newsletter. This is bad because? If you were interested in OU-COM, wouldn't you also be interested in their opportunities, what's happening at OU-COM, etc.? That's what the newsletter is about. They're not trying to sell you sexual aids, nasty pictures or car insurance.

Now if you received an e-mail from Amazon.com saying "OU-COM gave us your e-mail and we thought you might be interested in these medical books..." then you can complain.

Nope...wrong.

I didn't sign up for the newletter, so I don't want it. If I did want it I would tell OU_COM to send me more info, but I never did.

Who cares?
So you wanted to go to their school and they sent you a newsletter. Did no other schools that you applied to send you a catalog or literature?

I also don't see what the big deal is. It's easy enough to get your name removed from it. I'm sure, for the admissions dept, it is much easier to send the newsletter out to all applicants and remove a few than to sift through who wants it and who doesn't. It would be different if they'd had an electronic secondary application that allowed you to sign up for the newsletter if you wanted it.

If you don't want to go to OU-COM, don't care what's happening there, etc...then hit reply and put "remove" in the subject line. Bet you never get another issue of the newsletter.

Personally, I thought it was pretty cool that they sent their newsletter to all the applicants.

BTW, sending an applicant a school newsletter is *not* SPAM. Doubt you have to worry about the floodgates opening.

OK, I have to chime in as well.

Let me get this straight:

You applied to their medical school and gave them your email address. Now you're angry that they're sending you information about the school to which you paid to apply?

I don't get it either. 😕

If you start getting emails for generic Viagra ala OUCOM then maybe you should complain. Until then, I'd be happy that they care enough to create and send you all of that information so you can make an informed decision.

can you say anal.........Relax its only a newsletter...not a enlargement email....😛

seriously, fo sheezy, just delete it.
