people here seem to talk about columbia alot on this website. if you decided to go to columbia (class of 2007) can you share why you made that decision? i'm still debating nyu or columbia. i'm leaning towards columbia because of their reputation. does anyone know wheather freshmen are allowed to live in the towers? i've heard that bard towers, not the hall, is pretty nice.

My friend is a 1st year at Columbia right now and he regrets it going there. He chose Columbia mainly b/c of its name and its reputation. He told me that its good if you want to specialize b/c they prepare you well for the part I boards. But if you want to do general, he suggested you don't go there b/c they don't do much clinical work. Also, he said that the school actually don't live up to its reputation and the dental students are looked upon as second class citizens compared to med students.

i heard the same thing.. I heard that it's pretty competitive there too. I heard some things like they dont share old tests and stuff like that. I talked to the students there and they said that they do sometiems put priority on medical students over dental students. But, if you want to go there for their reputation, go for it 🙂 If i were you, I would pick columbia because NYU class size is just too huge.
