Social Event Attire

What are people planning on wearing to the social events before interviews? I'm between business casual (pants, heels, nice shirt) and a little more casual (dark jeans, heels and a nice shirt/sweater). Any thoughts?

Leaving for an away rotation tomorrow and have an interview while I'm there...

If they tell you what to wear, there shouldn't be a question. I was speaking of times when no guidance is given.

In my experience these are casual social gatherings. I would dress casual - wear nice jeans and a decent looking shirt.
