Me too! I'm getting concerned, honestly. I don't want people who think like that to become doctors.

OP sometimes the source of social anxiety is thinking that others are better than you in some way. We are all equal. Some people may think, act, and speak as if they are better than others, but they aren't worth your time anyway. In the end we all die.

🙄 Please don't. Why do people on SDN rely on tired gender stereotypes so often? I doubt length of phone conversations is correlated with how much a person likes to talk about themselves. Plenty of people avoid long talks on the phone but will go on for ages about themselves if they're talking to an interested member of the opposite sex. Or they'll write out their whole life story on a blog or something. Men and women both.
This kind of thing has always struck me as wayyyy overthinking it. I have some buddies that are like this - when we're at the bars, they always try to come up with a "game plan" or some ridiculous story/question to randomly tell. Sometimes this can be hilarious (like when you introduce one of your buddies as a foreigner or something) but usually it's forced and gimmicky. And that shows. The less you think about it, the less you really try, the easier it is to talk to/meet girls. That's been my experience anyway.
Also, deliberately lowering a girl's self-esteem isn't exactly the key to a girl's heart. Maybe if she's extremely psycho; otherwise most girls are generally not made to feel at ease when some random guy insults them. I mean a little teasing is fine, but the point isn't to lower her self-esteem, quite the opposite - it's obvious flirting and therefore a compliment. I'm not an expert or anything but I've always done just fine talking to attractive girls like normal people.

I have to agree with everything The Bunk has said. Women are human beings and treating them as such (rather than a "game" to be "won") is the only way to have a genuine relationship. Every time a PUA has tried to "neg" me, I immediately lose any interest I might have had before and avoid them as much as possible from there on out.
I'm also incredibly bored by the level of sexism I see constantly on these boards.

Ok, maybe I should have said "I don't want more people who think like that to become doctors." Some of the conversations I see on here are depressing as hell.
Thankfully, it isnt up to you. If you dont want students with conservative thinking to become doctors, then you yourself are discriminating against another group.
🙄 It has nothing to do with being conservative. As a patient, I don't want a sexist doctor and it's not discriminatory to say so. Do you think people who are blatantly racist should be doctors?

Well medicine is a conservative profession that attracts many "conservative" people. Older generation is even worse though in that regard.
As a patient, I agree with you. However, if you are saying that you dont want conservative physicians as your colleagues, then yeah it is discriminatory.
There are plenty of doctors who are blatantly racist and sexist. Not saying it's okay by any means, but you'll meet plenty along the path to medicine.
huh i guess im everyone now
you're posting in a forum for premeds. obviously the maturity isn't at the same level as it would be for people who are finished training.
your posting leaves me with the impression that you are naive. i am just commenting on the fact
I didn't mean to single you out. Several people have made comments along the same lines that you did. Premeds aren't necessarily immature, but some of them clearly are. I'd guess I'm probably older than you. I just haven't gotten into med school yet.

I think someone else also implied this, but there's a difference between conservatism and sexism, even if they may overlap in some individuals.

Yeah I realize that. That's why the quotation marks. In my view medicine attracts a lot of a-holes because it is well-compensated and prestigious. Those people are not stupid and often great liars to get through the application process. The problem start during rotation and residency when residents blame patients for being too stupid, unable to speak English, and waste of their time in general (heard it myself). Because, you know, they did everything perfectly well, it is just patients who suck and helping them is a waste of time.
Attendings are nowhere near as mature as many premeds think. For proof visit Sociopolitical forum and wolf den. Some of the drama there is worse than high school while the political views express make yahoo trolls look moderate in comparison.
One piece of advice. Avoid viewing uncovered women performing depraved acts on the internets. No girl will agree to that. You'll find though, that your ability to socially connect with the other gender will increase several folds.

Wow, this happened during step 1 studying, can't believe I missed it! Gandalf, glad to see you haven't been expelled from planet earth.
Glad you enjoyed it. I don't think they would ban me for arguing a point of view.
I'd bet even some mods have gotten a few kicks out of it.
When women realize I am homosexual, they come like flies. Maybe you should try that OP.
Step 1- Be gay
Step 2- Chicks let their guard down
Step 3- Sneak it in
Genius. Like the salmon masquerading as females.
