AH! What one states in the original post vs. intentions?? Well golly gee whiz, Genetics even has an opinion about that! Taken from the same thread as the other quotes:

This is hilarious. not sure what's funnier- the camaraderie between humble and eternal or the faux pas being made

The comments Genetics made about Humble were pretty ironic and stupid, so he probably deserves to get clowned. However, I don't think in his original post he was telling those kids a) what he thought of them as people, b) their fitness as future doctors, or c) to not pursue medicine. I'm sure he probably thinks all these things, but he didn't flat out say that as far as we know. All he did was make a statement of fact. 99% of people aren't going to get into medical school with a 2.0 gpa.
Oh really?
Tonight my Organic Chemistry class had our final exam review, and some doctor wanbees (so called pre-med students) were talking about how all you need is a 2.0 range GPA to transfer to the University of Miami to get into their pre-med program...which is not a major but they must not understand that. So when I heard them say this, I immediately said who gives a crap if you only need a 2.0 to transfer to the University of Miami, you won’t get into medical school with those kinds of stats. So the three students who were talking about only needing a 2.0 range GPA to get into The university of Miami said there are a lot of students who get into medical school with a 2.0 range GPA. So I said you people have no idea what stats you need to get into medical school. So they said take a look at the website at the University of Miami, and I said right back, who gives a crap what the basic requirements are for transferring to the University of Miami, there is no chance in hell a person with a 2.0 range GPA is going to medical school. Who the hell would admit a person with such a GPA. So the three students said back to me, you just watch me, I will get into medical school. So I said, try all you want, you have no chance of getting into medical school with those kinds of stats. So then I just ignored them bitching and complaining for the rest of the night.

Ah, such good times. 🙂

The one with the black baby was the funniest. I couldn't stop laughing.

Is that honestly for real? OMG. Anyways, all of these wonderfully funny graphics are digressing. We're supposed to be pointing out the glaring hypocracy in the OP...

For the OP:

Humble

Um ... Yeah really. Read everything you highlighted. Everything he said is qualified with the statement "those kind of stats". He wasn't attacking them as people or saying their unfit human beings to be doctors. He said they won't get in with a 2.0, which is essentially a statement of fact. The vast majority of people with 2.0s don't get in. All he was saying is that they won't get in with those stats. It's no different from you telling your friend that she would need to bring her grades up and reevaluate her priorities if she really wanted to get into med school. I didn't consider that an indictment or personal attack either. It's simply being honest and truthful. Whether its his right or place to even make the comment in the first place is another issue. Maybe we just interpret things differently. Btw, for someone who got so sensitive about being attacked on this forum, don't you think its a little hypocritical for you to turnaround and try to ridcule me or make me look stupid with the laughing faces. Remember what you were telling Genetics about irony? Who's being a third grader now?

Before someone comments, I am well aware that he probably believes these students shouldn't get into medical school. He probably thinks they are *****s and unfit to be doctor. But as far as I know, he didn't say that to their faces.

Actually the most ironic thing about HumbleMD is his name. Nobody seems to get the joke though. Oh well.

Hilarious. Where is this from? the guy looks like the hobbit who is now on lost, and the chick looks like teri hatcher... desperate housewives maybe?

It's my dick in a box!

I overhear a lot of people talking like that. I just sit there and laugh to myself and you should too. Don't argue with them, don't even let them know they're wrong! That means less competition for the rest of us who get it and really want to become doctors. 🙂

maybe the kid who obviously wasn't biologically related to his parents was adopted?

Dear HumbleMD:

There is a difference between telling a person they are unfit for a career and telling them they won't get into medical school that you are tutoring when compared to a random student in your class that needs the truth (or reality) thrown in their face. I never asked what their GPA’s were (I also have no idea how they are doing in the Organic Chem class); I just went off what they were saying and telling them what they needed to know.

The students who I threw the truth at last night are not students I have a professional relationship with. If I were a tutor of any of those three students, I would not have said what I did say. Since I have no relationship with the students, it is nothing different then a stranger telling you that you don't have the competitive stats to get admitted to a medical school right now.

What I was saying about being blacklisted in that other thread is about attacking people personally. What I did last night was not a personal attack. All I did was say what everyone needs to know that wants to go down the path of becoming a doctor when trying to get admitted into medical school.

Besides, my post last night was just a rant. Today is a new day!

Its from an SNL skit with justin timberlake..."dick in a box", or something like that

Man the 13 on the MCAT sounds crazy. Don't know how credible it is but it would lead to embarassing conversations like...

"So how did you do on the MCAT?"
"Oh , I got a 13"
"Oh really? Nice, which section?"
"Uh...the whole thing?"
"Oh..."

I'm still laughing about this

Everybody on SDN has jumped in on this allready but I just wanted to say. The only reason you should care about what these guys are saying is:

1. You have the concerns of your fellow pre-med students at heart😍 and hope that they will get serious so they do stand a chance of getting in.

2. You are afraid that they are right and they will get into school with bad grades and a poor work ethic. Which would make all the pre-med stressing you did seem kind of silly. 😱

3. Just thought of this one. You are afraid that they are right and they will get into school with bad grades and a poor work ethic. This is disturbing because you don't want people with this attitude working on your car, much less your body.😡

Judging by the tone of your post you care because of reason 2. Just focus on the reason you are striving to do well and not those around you who will likely wind up selling insurance. 👎

Also Ana, there was a student just this year that got an interview at CCLCM with a 24, so its tough to say. But 24 is the minimum at most schools so it might be possible though not as easy as someone with say a 30-35+ range.

However it isn't possible to get in with a 2.0 without extensive postbac work to show you can handle the work.
Just to clarify, CCLCM does not have any MCAT cutoff. No one's application gets screened out by MCAT score no matter how low the score is. As far as I know, we don't have a GPA cutoff either. But yeah, that definitely doesn't mean that someone with a 24 MCAT and a 2.0 GPA would be very competitive here.

While I would be wary of giving unsolicited advice to a student, I would casually let them know about SDN. If they dont get their questions answered in this website then they are too dumb to read.

I don't usually post but I found this so annoying that I can't help myself... Forgive me OP if I read your post wrong, but it sounds to me like you need a lesson in what is socially ok and what's not. If my friend and I are having a conversation, you have no place or invitation whatsoever to tell me what will or will not happen in my career plans, regardless of how stupid you may think I am. To set a background, I was one of those college students who spent several years in la-la land, thinking that if I did my best (i.e. study when it was convenient and have lots of fun) that I could go anywhere I wanted when application time came. I could have easily been one of those students you're talking about. The issue is not that I'm offended or I think it's mean, but those students weren't ready to hear what you had to say. It took a Prof/MD to wake me up to what my reality was, but had some a**hole gunner student said something to me, it would've gone in one ear and out the other. I ended up taking time after school to get my act together, and it's likely that your fellow students will too. In the meantime, keep your mouth shut when people are having conversations that you're not included in. It just makes you look obnoxious.

its so simple yet i cant stop laughing....

I overheard some guy out in the hallway before a biology I exam...he was telling someone:

"Yea so even though i got a C in here, I'll just take astronomy to raise my science gpa, i'll beat the system"

I actually felt bad for him... how could people be so misinformed about something they say they want to do for the rest of their lives...

Verdicts in- I am friggin hilarious👍

there was a girl in my orgo class who kept telling me she was considering med school. she was gonna give the mcat a second shot (no more prep though) and if she could raise her 19 to a 24 she'd apply. no clue.😉

Haha, well according to AAMC, over 3000 people got scores of 13 or worse on the MCATs this year. While I'd assume most of them would retake it, probably a third of them applied regardless, so even if the acceptance rate drops down from 50 to 0.1% for a score like that, that's still one person getting into medical school. May God have mercy on us all. 😛
