Hello everyone, I have some questions that I stumbled upon while studying, please help...

1. Homeostatic control systems are grouped into intrinsic controls vs. extrinsic controls. My teacher explained intrinsic controls as "local controls that are inherent in an organ" and extrinsic controls as "regulatory mechanisms initiated outside an organ; accomplished by nervous and endocrine systems." Can you explain what both of these means and an example of each would be very helpful.

2. This is a homework question that the teacher gave without going much into detail on this topic... The question is "Select two homeostatic events and/or physiological systems, one involving watersoluble ligands, and the other involving liposoluble ligands in which you can show the importance of structure/function relationship, levels of organization, and feedback control." He never taught anything about liposoluble/watersoluble ligands (he didn't even tell us what they are). He simply threw the question at the end of a rushed lecture and pretty much left us to figure this out. I know what feedback control is, and I'm not sure how structure or levels of organization affects the ligand's function.

Think about how paracrine/autocrine vs. endocrine agents work.

This really isn't the place to ask for homework help. I suggest you go directly to your professor, TA, or fellow classmates to ask.
