I?m studying for the Dat and was wondering if someone could answer some questions:
1) The Kaplan book gives formulas in their QR section, like the surface area of a cone, should I memorize these?
2) should I know the gen chem equations? Like PV=nRT, etc. What about constants?
3) I know we aren?t allowed to bring calculators, but will one be given on the testing computer, if not then how are we expected to get thru some of the more complex problems.
4) this isn?t really a question but I?ve been neglecting to study for the pat and Reading sections because I think you either get these or you don?t. Am I right?

THANKS!

Well for your info

1. You should memorize these. After all the information you will have to memorize, do you think memorizing 2 more formulas will kill ya? Chances are there may be 1 or 2 questions on this information. Up to you, but it can be the difference between a 17 and 20.
2. Know basic equations. Pv=nRT is very basic. I think thats gen chem 1. and besides to know the constant you just need to know how to "round" the numbers. I.E dont worry so much about all the decimals. (8.14=8!)
3.No calculators whatsoever. Learn to do everything in your head, or if that doesnt work you are given scrap paper, but the faster you are the better.
4. If you have been scoring well on the sections then focus where you need more help. You shoudl definitely be taking practice tests. this is the best gauge. I honestly didnt prepare for the math or reading sections, and very little for PAT. but then I took a few practice tests and score upper 20s. just depends what you're scoring.
Hope that helps, if you need anything else, you can PM me

All the best
