I've gotten 4 interviews in the past month. I was complete at all my schools in late july to early august. Am I just a "borderline" candidate that they waited to see the whole applicant pool, then invited me? Do late interviewees still stand a shot?

Totally depends on the school. Some schools keep open spots throughout while others are already filled up so at best you're interviewing for a place on the waitlist. Only you can answer whether or not you are a "borderline candidate." What are your stats and what are the stats of the schools at which you have interviews?

They don't interview you to just reject you. That's wasting time so you obviously have a good shot. A lot of schools don't offer a lot of late interviews as opposed to early ones so you might be one of the few to take a gamble with even fewer seats that late in the cycle.

My advice: don't question it. All that matters is that you have them scheduled, just go in there and rock them. Questioning this or that might shake your confidence, act like you deserve it (you do).

Good piece of advice! OP, take this advice from the med student to heart.

The later you interview, the less of a "shot" you have.

But just like someone else said, they aren't inviting you just to reject you. You definitely do have a chance, so prepare and do well. Having four interviews now seems like pretty good thing to me, even if they are late.
