Isn't the actual interview buried in the middle of the day? Were you late for the actual interview or did you just miss some of the financial aid, curriculum, welcome to our school BS that happens in the morning?

It was actually the briefing part. In order words at UHUS there is a briefing about the school before the actual tour and interview proper.

I wouldn't worry about it, most of those people will not be on the adcom, and the ones that are will understand if you were late for reasons beyond your control. It's the actual one on one interviews that determine your fate.

Along with Pinkertinkle's questions, I'm also wondering HOW late were you? If we're talking a few minutes here, then I'd say no sweat. But if you were like 30 min or more, then I guess I might be concerned. If it's that bad, I'd send them a letter of interest, with a brief apology for your lateness. Don't overdo it here. Just let them know you acknowledge your tardiness and you're sorry. Two sentences max. But if you weren't that late I wouldn't draw any attention to it. It'll make it look worse then it was. Good luck.

I think that they would understand that obviously NO ONE wants to be late for a med school interview. I think that I would be in tears if I showed up late! I wouldn't worry about it too much - you weren't late to your actual interview and that's what really counts (in my humble opinion).

If it was a general session you were late too, i might be hesitant to send an apology letter. you don't want to point out that you were late if they might not have noticed.

Highbury,

You were at USUHS? If you were late for the briefing, I wouldn't worry about it. If you weren't late to the actual interview, then I don't think the interviewers even know you were late to the briefing. In other words, don't worry about it. I don't think the admin assistants stand around making notes of who was late.

Yes, I know its the military, but if you got nothing out of the day, at least you hopefully realised that they're really good, supportive people that are happy to have everyone there.

I've got my fingers crossed for USUHS!!

I have never met anyone of you guys. But I really love you guys. We are one family. We are in this thing together.

Hi HIghbury,

I actually MISSED an entire interview because I simply forgot that it was rescheduled for an earlier time. After 20 mins my interviewer got in contact with the person scheduling the interview who in turn got in contact with me. As you can imagine I was very upset but like you my SDN family reassured me and after a while I was okay. The interview was reschedule for a week later with the same person. It went very well and a month or so later I was accepted. Bottom line, most people involved in this process understand that we are human and unexpected things happen. Don't stress as long as your actually interview went well you still have a great shot.
Good Luck 🙂
