It's a freaking asinine system. Why in all hell do you have to fill out each school's immunization form just to find out a month later you didn't get the elective or sub-I???? Why can't the schools send you the immunization form AFTER they accept you????? Meanwhile, I have a stack of immunization forms I had to have doctors sign only for my school to mix up two of them and send them to the wrong schools and even lose one meant for my sub-I which I now have to fill out, get signed, and uploaded all over again all so that weeks from now they can send me a notice saying they're full.

VSAS is the biggest waste of time, space, bandwidth, and energy ever!

Not only that, I love paying $35 (then $15) to find out the rotation I want is full. That's the best.

I'm trying three institutions...That's my max money wasted on this POS system.

The only good thing that could come of VSAS would be that you could directly transfer all the information you entered to ERAS.
Maybe then I'd feel better about donating $35 to AAMC to still be in limbo for an elective I applied to 8 weeks ago...
Nah.

I still have the "pending host institution review" for electives I applied to back in March. One is for an elective that is supposed to start in 4 weeks!! When I call they say "refer to VSAS for the status of your application" UGH!!

As annoying as it was at first, the places with their own online application got back to me fairly quickly and the coordinators also responded in a timely manner. Plus there's usually no fee unless you accept the elective. I agree though that we really shouldn't need all the health forms unless we're actually accepted.

same here. still pending for a rotation that is supposed to start on july 8th....

and yeah, having to fill out all those forms BEFORE youre even accepted is ****ing idiotic. some of them required vaccinations that I didnt have........... So just to APPLY, I would have to go out and get a new vaccination. I could write a book on how ****ing awful VSAS is.

July is rough. I have one for Aug and not a word. Waiting several weeks. Not sure what happens if I don't get it now.

It's funny. I applied for a couple a few weeks ago. Heard a, "We're full right now, please try another date or another rotation," and a big nothing.

The other day, I applied to another institution (which is actually a place that I would love to go to for residency). Received my acceptance at nearly the same time as the automated email from VSAS...

Had a program reject me for a VSAS rotation two days ago. I called to ask why and they said "Your dates are off by 1 week." My dates are super flexible. Had I not called, they never would have told me there was a (fixable) problem 😡

curious as to what NEW vaccinations you encountered. every place i looked at had the usual ppv/mmr/tdap/hepb and recent ppd. anything else is out of the ordinary.

one school wanted meningococcal, and need to be given within the last 5 years. Got mine back when I started college, so I'd have to go get another one.

The VSAS is terrible. I remember getting rejections months after the rotation started because it was full. They really do need a new system.
