I'm trying very hard to convince myself I do not need this.

The irrational side of me says, "Oh yes you do. You still have all that classical music you need to transfer to an iPod. It may as well be a brand new updated version that can shoot video (even though I would probably never use that function).

I don't need it. I WANT it. To quote Jimmy Carter, "I am lusting in my heart" after it.

Help!

ETA: I wonder if there would be any way to transfer my rock tunes to the new iPod and use the old one for my classical music. The new one would be cooler for rock music. I'm not sure I have the skills for that job, though.

Of course you need it.

You've even justified it with your "music segregation" idea.

What are you waiting for? 😉

Damn it, Jim, you're the sensible one! I was counting on you to be the one to explain why I shouldn't do it. After all, you had a very well thought out response for not jumping on Snow Leopard.

I can see where I'll be spending my w/e.

This thread does not compute. But I suddenly feel the urge to buy a new Nano. 😛

Dammit the live radio pause was my idea like 5 years ago. Still awesome, though, and since I don't have any electrical engineering skills, I'll let it slide.

I completely forgot about the radio part. That might be because I never listen to the radio anymore. Truthfully, I even forgot there was radio until I saw the promo for the new nano.

You don't need that shit.

You need a Zune HD

The Zune fails in a few very important areas IMHO:
1) clunky web browser is slower than mobile safari
2) very limited app experience
3) you are forced to watch advertisements before using an app
4) clunky app experience, 8-9 seconds to load the calculator

The Zune does have a few pros
1) high quality screen
2) music screen saver is really neat
3) built in HD radio tuner

The potential exists for a great device; however, the iPod still wins out. We will see what happen when or if Microsoft can produce an app experience that rivals Apple.

Regarding the OP's question, you know you want it!

Blech. Can't they even come up with a cool sounding name for their product? Zune? Who was the dork who came up with that?

I'll bet the newly remastered Beatles catalogue would sound great on the new iPod. Hmmm.

Get one!

I've been thinking about buying a video camera for my trip to Angkor Wat but didn't want to lug something else along and spend the money on something I wouldn't use often.

If you get this and it works, it a reasonable price and size to get for my trip.

Not to change the subject, but you might want to look at the Flip Ultra. They're a couple hundred bucks, and there's an HD version:

I can just imagine Blue Dog in the Garden of Eden: "Psst, Eve! I got a great deal on a terrific apple for you! Come on, you know you want it!"

(No pun intended on the apple part.)

So did you get it... I'm thinking of getting a Kindle but I know I shouldn't

I was really hoping no one would bring that up, because that's been on my mind, too. I didn't think that would ever tempt me, but the other day someone was getting treatment and was using one, so I went over and checked it out. Now I want it.

I'm going to the apple store tomorrow for a workshop, so it's highly likely I won't walk out empty handed.

Get the iPod touch (unless you already have an iPhone). The nano is great, but soon you'll want to run all those medical apps

No iPhone. Thought about it, but I HATE my stupid phone, never use it, forget I have it half the time till it beeps that it needs to be recharged. I'm not a med student, so I don't need the apps.

mmm... iPhone is yummy. I've had 3...

why 3 you ask?

Well the day it was released I got in line at 6am and waited till they went on sale all day long (I'm a dork I know), had that iPhone for a year until the next one came out

When the 3G came out I sold my old one for the same price as a new one because I was able to unlock it. Hokay fast forward to this year and I did the same thing again.

So basically I pay once for an iPhone and keep upgrading for the cost of the tax on a new one. How cool is that?

But you should get one (if you can afford it) best phone out there.

I don't use the phone I have. I never text message. I have a major problem with people who play with their phones when they should be working. I just wouldn't get the use out of it. I can't see paying all that money for something I know I wouldn't use. I don't even want it.

Now, other stuff...😉

Well since you are an RN, do you see doc's and PA's and Med Students using either the iPod Touch or the iPhone on the wards allot?

I looked at those a few weeks back but since they aren't that much more and don't have the advantages of the IPod, I figured the latter would be a better choice (ie, I'm not looking at taking hours of video or doing anything fancy, just to get the sounds of the trip that you cannot record with still photos).

But the Touch doesn't have video capabilities that I can see or find an app for, which is the reason the OP wants the Nano. She won't use all the medical apps.

Am I wrong or is there a video add on? I cannot see an "eye" to take video with or even pictures.

We don't have any med students in my area. I don't really see the docs using their phones a whole lot. This may be because of the kind of dept. I work in. The doc I just saw for myself used some sort of handheld device for sending my e-prescription. It might have been a phone; IDK.

Yes....which one to choose?

I am leaning toward pink (of course) but I'd like it to match everything so might just go with the graphite or black.😛

I went with the bright green one. 😀 :luck: 😀

Since I was on a spending frenzy, I decided to go for broke and replace the battery in my Swiss Army watch that croaked. Two weeks ago.

Swiss Army. That was my go-to watch during med school. 😀👍

Yes...I bought it because Noah Wyle wore one on "E.R." I'm such a brand *****. 😉

Somedays, when it's been a bad day in the chemo room, I come one over here to SDN and click on CBs avatar, and it makes me smile. "Simple things for simple minds," as my mother used to say. IDK. It gives me a smile on a bad day. Don't ever take it down!

I get a laugh out of WS lolcat, too.

Guess I'll run it by you when I decide to go with a new dance scene for my avvy...😀

He makes me laugh too...especially since he looks like my cranky cat my parents took care of for me when I was in medical school (and still survives, hyperthyroid, but almost as cranky as ever).

He looks exactly like the first cat I had, only he was very lovable, not at all cranky. Very terrified of thunderstorms and freaked out during the one earthquake we had.
