The College of Physicians and surgeons of Ontario requires proof that you are not infected with Hepatitis or HIV every year now to continue to practice surgery in Ontario.
You may live the celebate and drug free life of a Buddist Monk, but one needle stick or one wayward splash of blood, serum, or fluid will end your career.
I know you are all accruing big debts, you should consider this in deciding on a specialty.

Good luck in your careers.

Make sure to take proper needlestick precautions. There are treatments for Hep C now. Good surgeons don't have the time to lead a life of debauchery anyways.
