I viewed the FAQ to see if this was on there but it only had a cursory answer. Can anyone here attest from experience what type of board scores are necessary to get a pathology residency? It stated that average scores were fine, but for what type of program is that? Also, does it matter what Path program trains you when it comes time to getting a job? I was going to select a program based on where I want to live and not necessarily on the prestige. Are Pathologists on call?

Thanks

What the FAQs are getting at is:

"Necessary" = pass
"Desirable".... well, you can imagine.

The first version of this reply listed 7 threads with responses to questions about board scores - and then Explorer stopped responding so I lost it all.

You can achieve the same result by using the Search function, limiting it to the Pathology forum and using the keywords "board scores".

If I recall Chris Fletcher's housetaff jobhunt talk from USCAP 2005 correctly, I think "med school/residency program" was in the "B" (if not lower) category of what people look for in new recruits.

I believe "willing to do anything" was ranked higher on the list of desirable traits 🙂

Yes, pathologists take call.
