I know I've almost taken up the page but I've been having problems posting this message.
In fact I posted this message in other dental forums but got few responses. I'm writing a paper on developments in dental surgery with a particular focus on surgical instruments and devices. So far, I've not had that much success. Apart from one new crowna nd bridge remover called a wamkey. Information about it is fairly scarce though. Has anyone used it before or does anyone know anything about it?
Any other ideas for this paper would be helpful. And I mean any.

Thanks

cjb,can u please tell me what are the other dental websites you referred, i will be thankful

This website outlines the new instrument. It's really a very smart idea. I need to hear from people that have used it though. I suppose salesmen and websites will tell you anything. But customers always tell the truth.
Hope that answers your question CHINNI

All ideas are good!

Hi,

If you are writing a paper about (recent?) developments in the instruments used in oral surgery, how about doing a bit of research into all the new stuff that's coming out for procedures like implant surgery? There's plenty of new stuff there.

The first thing I thought of when you mentioned the Wamkey was fixed prosthodontics rather than oral surgery.. 😀

HTH!

Hi

I used the wamkey since one year. It's a complement to other technics to remove crowns.
When i don't want to save the crowns i do an incision on the facial surface and separate with an instrument the two edges .When i want to save , i use wamkey (very interesting) or an instrument which done chocks on the cervical of the crown.
All is done in an average of five minutes.
The wamkey manufacturer will put on the market an instrument to remove the dowel crowns .If you know what difficult and dangerous it was , you will find this instrument revolutionnary. Some has try with a non definitive and find this very very helpful

Pat,
So what you're saying is that WAMkey is not the only product that they're selling. There's nothing about any other products on the website (well, at least I don't think so). A dowel crown remover? How does it work? Are you on their mailing list or something? Where did you find out about this?

Sorry 'bout all the questions, but if it takes off in the same way that the wamkey apparently has, it'll be a surefire hit! They've sold over 10,000 in Europe, and the Americans seem to love it aswell. It's all over one of their most popular forums.

Thanks

Wmkey products include the same instrument in three diameters. They sell also a bur to cut the crown, it's Tri Hawk but ss white does one too.Next , they will produce a dowel crown removal but it has been announced since 8 months 🙁 .Only a beta has been disclosed.

PAT

Thanks for the info Pat. I've sent an e-mail to them but they haven't responded yet.

Ciao

Hey gponcin

What's that e-mail?

I wouldn't expect a reply before Monday!

Bon weekend

I received an e-mail from WAM today. Apparently, they are preparing to launch the new instrument as I write. Whereas Wamkey removes the crown, their new instrument, WAM'X removes the post. I think they are going to market them separately but they clearly belong under the same heading.
They also told me that they are completely re-constructing the website. It should be up and running by the end of the month.
If anyone would like, I could forward the e-mail that I received.

I must thank anyone that has given information, particularly PAT and GPoncin.

If anyone has any other ideas for this article, post them!
