howdie folks

just wondering what the top southeast/texas rads programs are? i'm thinking of doing a couple of externships (i hope it is not too late to apply!!) and was wondering if you guys could give your inputs...

thanks

You really can't go wrong with any of the Texas programs.

1) UTSW is probably the strongest in Texas (reputation wise), but like any residency at Parkland, expect to work your tail off.

2) A lot of AOA rad applicants from my class at UTSW really liked Baylor-Dallas, but alas they take 6 a year (usually 2 or 3 are from UTSW). Its is probably the strongest 'community' program in the country which has some of the best written boards performance and great oral pass rates. It is a stonger than a lot of 'academic' programs. Residents there are very happy.

3) I also liked UT-H. Larger class. Texas Med Center is spectacular (imagine a a small sized city of comprised of nothing but high-rise hospitals within a city). Lots of Onc exposure with MD Anderson. Be prepared to find Waldo at your interview. Parking sucks.

4) Baylor-Houston. Smaller than UT-H, but also good. Lots of inteventional work for residents. I don't remember if they had any interventional fellows.
Interim chair (he may have stepped down) Dr. Mawad is a big-wig neuro IR guy.

I didn't interview at San An, UTMB or Scott & White.

hey awesome, thanks a lot!

now, second questiean: what do you mean when you say "work your tail off"? 🙂 i don't mind working at all, as long as i have something to go by. if i don't know to do something, it won't occur to me right away and i may stand around looking like a *******...any input anyone can give on how to look good would be GREATLY appreciated 🙂

thanks again
