Does anyone know if you can practice in CA if you go to this school?

I heard as long as you have a bachelors you can go to this school, even if you dont have any science courses, is this true?

Also, how are the living arrangements?

This school is not recognized by California for licensure.

I sure hope their students know the difference between blood and ketchup.

their website looks ghetto. and their admission requirements are the same as any other med school.

Not quite, MCAT is not required for admission. No doubt the appeal to many of their students.

Of course, they quote a 72% pass on Step 1 which given that most Carrib schools pre-screen for the steps is pretty scary IMHO.

This school is very shady. Do not go there. If you must go to the Caribbean then go to St George, Ross, or maybe a couple of the other schools. These schools are a last resort for people who don't have a decent shot at US schools. Spartan is not going to give you a good education. I would be seriously skeptical if they even have a 72% pass rate on Step 1. I find it extremely hard to believe that it is close to that high. Most students may fail out before getting to the Step 1? Also, that pass rate may be for people who try up to 3 times or something (as in, people who pass after trying up to 3 times). Someone who goes to school in Caribbean and doesn't pass the Step 1 and 2 on his/her first try will be much less likely to be able to get into ANY residency, even a less popular specialty in a less popular location (North Dakota, Arkansas, etc.)

Spartan is on the California disapproved list, which means that graduates cannot practice in California.

Even if the California board does a site visit and approves Spartan in the future, it will be highly unlikely that the approval will be retroactive considering Spartan is currently on the disapproved list.

Currently, there are only five offshore Caribbean schools (i.e. primarily for US students) which are on the California approved list. They are:

St. George's, Ross, American University of the Caribbean, Saba and American University of Antigua.
