I will be a D1 this next fall, I have. A question in terms of specializing. Do you guys think it's advantageous to go to a school that doesn't have your speciality that you want to get into? I want to get into an OMS residency. I have heared both sides of the fence from people I know and I was just wondering what you guys thought? Any input is welcome. I have heared things like some schools residency programs like to bring in outside students and blah blah just let me know what you've heared/ have seen. Thank you!

I was told, in general, schools know/like to keep their products. I chose my school since it has the residency program I'm interested in.

It's def better to go to a school with the specialty. You can do in house externships, spend breaks there, get letters of rec from the residency faculty, advice from the residents...and of course many programs are inbred meaning they take their predoc students over pg students
