If you use the term "specialization," then you're probably not educated enough to get into a dental "specialty."
 
I think it is safe to say that at this stage in the game, all predental students are not educated enough to get into a dental specialty.

I'm positive I've heard it referred to as specialization before. Did a quick look up, and several schools have post grad programs in "Areas of Specialization." Also, the journal of dental education refers to it as areas of specialization as well, particularly in a recently accepted article (interesting article btw.)
