so assume that you graduate dental school with poor/average grades and rank in the middle of your class. Then you take your national boards and you pass with an average score. Regardless whether you tried and these are the best scores you can get or did not have any intentions of specializing and was just trying to pass.....so after you graduate you practice general dentistry and u decide that you want to go back to specialize. DO you have a chance at all at that point or are your chances very slim because of your average scores?

Based on what I've heard, the enteries of class of 2013 and above will take the board Pass/Fail for sure.

Your question is way too broad and too generalized to answer. When would you consider applying? How much private practice experience are you talking about? And the biggest question of them all...which specialty are you referring to? Without these specifics, I don't think anyone could answer your question.
generally, even if you plan on applying after a year GPR or practice for a couple of years, you will still need to get good board scores/rec letters etc. just because you're a practicing dentist, doesn't mean everything will be handed to you...or everyone would be working for 5 years then apply to ortho

i thought they pushed this change back to november 2011, which would be the fall right after when we're expected to take the first board exams..?
