Specialty board certification process - Ethical issues

I am surprised there isn't more discussion about the board certification process. To me, if you have to delay a patient's treatment to create that perfect board case, then it's unethical. We talked about it all the time in dental school when we have to save a patient's class II lesion or calculus for regional boards.

I don’t really consider that unethical. They’re accepting longer treatment times and more appointments and wait in exchange for lower cost and theoretically higher quality work.

This is a question that need to be taken up with the board of examiners, and the board, as they control the process. If you want to change things, it is easier when you are on the inside, than knocking on the door.
