I have been stuck between specialties. my main two are sports medicine and adolescent medicine. they both have the beginning option of family medicine. The only issue is that I was wondering which one would be more accepting of tattoos.
thanks

What kind of tattoos?

Are we talking a butterfly on your left shoulder? Or ink all up and down your arms?

I'm sure you could find a group of people accepting of tattoos in any specialty. It probably wouldn't be fair to stereotype any other those specialties as tattoo-unfriendly.

On The Good Wife there was a liver transplant doctor who was bias against patients with tattoos. Don't know if this is typical though.

Status: Pre-med. Wait for medical school before you decide some sub-specialty of FM. You're just going to change your mind 20 times anyway.

A back tattoo is fine, but I wouldn't recommend getting a sleeve. People judge you based on your appearance. That's life.

Liver transplant, tattoos, hepatitis. Good show.

Probably a big back piece and possibly a sleeve

What do you mean probably and possibly? If you don't even have them yet, it's smarter to plan your tattoos around your career rather than your career around your tattoos. There's a lot of places you can get inked that won't affect your job prospects.

While tattoos are becoming more common, you can't ignore the bias against them and its not just old farts like me. 😛

So unless things radically change, you will encounter bias and possibly limit career options with certain tattoos: neck/face, full sleeve and in some cases, anything visible.

The fact of the matter is that medicine is a conservative PROFESSIONAL field in which body modification is not as common as the general society and is frowned upon. Many residents and physicians have tattoos; visible ones are pretty uncommon.

But if you want stereotypes: most common in Ortho and EM. Even Dr. Michelle Au agrees:

Just for the record, neither of those are specialties, those are subspecialties, each of which have 2 or 3 different routes to them.
TL;DR, dont waste time worrying about this

Slow down a bit. Finish undergrad. Get into medical school. Check out different specialties before making a potentially permanent decision that you feel might limit your options. You will change over the next few years....the person who you will be later down the road might like tattoos and might not. If you must, get something that can be easily covered up.
