Splenic infarct -> splenomegaly: has anyone ever heard of this?

Does this happen? If so, what's the mechanism? It was in our lectures and I can't find anything about it online

Not sure what the context was. Something that comes to mind though is splenic vein thrombosis in the setting of chronic pancreatitis which presents with left-sided portal hypertension and splenomegaly.
 
Also splenic sequestration in the setting of a sickle cell crisis.

It was in a lecture about palpating the spleen to assess its size. It then listed conditions in which the spleen would be noticeably larger (i.e, splenomegaly), such as a tumor, leukemias, etc. But one point was splenic infarct. So i was like wtf. Thanks anyway
